Ask the Webmaster

Hello SCWIS or MadMage:

Hello SCWIS or MadMage:

The past few days I’ve noticed that while I’m connected to part15.us the download spinner keeps spinning and the download gauge never finished loading. At one time I noticed that the browser was transferring r.openx.net, which I know has to do with an ad banner.

Is this normal experience?

Just a wild west web guess
This happens with outsourced resources on a website, where as things like banner ad’s and news ticker feeds and such, experience the net lag which in turn causes the page your trying to view take a little longer to complete.

It often does not affect the “local” hosted content, just the stuff that is coming from elsewhere on the web…but sometimes it can be annoying and does sometimes keep a page from completely loading even its own local hosted content to completely display. Arrangement of the code in the page can determine what comes first, second, third etc. If arranged a certain way, the local hosted content will display ok, while the snail pace stuff lags behind and you see blank I-Frame boxes and such.

      yes, its the offsite stuff
yes, its the offsite stuff that is slow to load. certain electronics sites that will not be named were notoriously slow. we serve those items locally now, and it has helped.

i am due to do a revamp of a lot of the offsite stuff. perhaps this is my kick in the butt to do it 🙂

please, anyone, feel free to contact me if you see any issues. its not a bother, its helping me solve the issues of the site!

      thx!
      -steve
