It would be handy, at times, to have an extender for an ordinary telescoping antenna. It seems to me an additional 1 1/2 foot telescoping antenna with two appropriate clips could be a useful experimenter’s device.
Has anyone seen such an accessory?

Clip On Telescoping Extension

Imagine wanting to make an existing telescoping antenna just a little bit longer. A snap-on extender would be very handy.
Just adding a clip-lead-wire is not so easy because the wire wouldn’t stand upright unless maybe a wooden dowel rod were taped to the telescopic part.

Hmm …how about tuning?
Say, how about this: bolt and/or solder the telescoping antenna to the top of a shortened antenna. I.e., instead of going the full 10; with an inline loading coil, no. of turns in the ball park for a given frequency, and, say, an 8 ft. antenna, maybe you could tune just by extending/retracting the telescoping section.
Telescoping Antenna Extensions
They use to make “automobile repair antennas” which were telescoping rods with a side mount screw at the base. They were intended to slip over a broken car antenna stub. I don’t know where to find them but J C Whitney might be a place to start.
Ken’s suggestion about using this to fine tune an AM antenna is workable providing the telescope can tolerate the weather. It would seem that an auto whip would do so but I have always been disappointed in mechanical antenna connections. Good idea probably worth pursuing.
