    It’s an unfortunate situation
It’s an unfortunate situation for any interested parties who have to work every single friday, and can not participate… or even be a member (??).
Shortly after this organization came into being, I expressed concerns over the name of the organization… there was criticisms that my concerns should have been brought up at the meeting when it was being voted on, instead of after the fact.
Well, I still believe my points were (and are) valid.. But I’m not trying to bring those points up again now..
Right now, I’m just emphasizing ABMedia1’s point that (apparently) you have no input or vote if you can’t be on Teamspeak on time during the meetings.

Perhaps, something like a specific forum (broken up into weekly sections) could be implemented which would allow participation of those who are unable to be there for the “LIVE” audio meetings.

Maybe, maybe not.. I’m just throwing out an idea.

If it weren’t for Carl recording meetings for the Low Power Hour, some of us wouldn’t even know what was discussed.. I don’t think there is any recording or transcription of the very first meeting available at all.

    So..
As ABMedia asked; If we can’t be there, we can’t be a part?

      The 1st Meeting
      Hi Rich Powers:

      The 1st Meeting is available on LPH#’s 45 & 46.

All 3 of the meetings so far have been made part of the LPH.

There has been no meeting activity in several weeks.

Only speaking for myself, I think your concerns about naming are important, and the matter is not closed.

A very interesting idea was expressed by one member of the group, and that is that “Anyone who expresses an interest in the group, even if they have not or cannot attend the meetings, should be inducted into the group”.

By that measure I would say that you, Rich Powers, and a number of others who have expressed interest, are members of the group.

Nothing else is known at this time.

        For some reason I thought
For some reason I thought LPH45&46 was from the second meeting..

          Correction
          Right, RichPowers.

          The 1st meeting is on LPH#s 41 & 42.

If I knew what I was doing I would have done what I thought I did prior to it not being done.

            Mountains Out Of Molehills
Perhaps a different meeting day and time should be selected..one that is a bit easier for folks to make the meetings.

Fridays are not exactly a great day for it. And these days work schedules vary quite a lot.

Maybe on weekends would be better.

Maybe weekends would be better for some… but not for those (like myself) who work all weekends into the late hours.. But that’s about to end, the tourist season will be pretty much done after next weekend!

            Tough Choices
Well it sounds like some tough choices will have to be made by both the organizations current membership and new potential members about finding a workable time for those meetings.

Friday is the end of the work week for most, and on a Friday evening the last thing people want to do after a long work week is work some more when they wish to be out and about enjoying the first day of their weekend break. Or some like to just relax in the recliner and enjoy a quiet evening, and others are gearing up to throw a party or go out on the town.

It’s an unfortunate circumstance, but it’s called “real life” and we all have one.

Agreed.. There’s no way to cater to every ones time schedule or preferences..
But whats so unappealing about having a forum based discussion?..

Make a specific and private thread just for.. The Association, spanning a course of a couple days, which leads up-to, and then concludes with the live team speak meeting?

It would certainly enable more involvement, viewpoints and voting capability for all members, who might not otherwise be able to participate.

            A Meeting Thread
The site owner, Mr. J.P.Janze, has set up a private membership thread for the low power group, but it’s formal introduction awaits the next meeting, which is not scheduled at this time.

Keep alert for more information on this.

            Another Problem
As I was setting up to participate in the meeting via the voice communication software I discovered that using the microphone input to my PC made me sound like the fellow in the old movie “The Fly” when at the end he as calling “Help me, help me….”. For those not familiar with this movie the mic volume was very low and hollow. I traced the problem with a net search to be a “known problem” with my Creative sound card which has no software fix. Arrrrrgggghhh!

This is my problem but a non voice way to participate or join would be nice.

            TS Chat
The Team Speak program does feature chat rooms both outside of the voice channel and within the voice channel. You don’t have to have a mic to participate once you join the channel. You can respond simply by typing in the chat text box below the channel window and your text will appear in that same area where everyone on the channel will see it. They too can type in and respond even if they have a mic connected.

Thanks for the info. I have a notebook with an integrated mic and am going to try to get it working for this.

      Answering Andrew Bentley
I saw your question right away, ABMedia1, when you asked if someone could speak with your instructions at the next meeting. I thought maybe somebody would answer you on that, but since no one has, I will be glad to tell you…..

I think it should be o.k. At the first meeting I gave my “proxy” to left, the chairman, giving him the power to vote in my name as if he was me.

I also submitted a statement to RFB who read it at the meeting, passing along my thoughts to the meeting.

It sounds like you want to do the second of those two things, that is, submit a statement in your own words. I think if you send it to any of the members they would be happy to speak on your behalf, so go ahead and do it.

If I am wrong, someone can contact you later and explain what’s up.
