A new look!

March 23, 2011 by madmage 4 Comments

HI! We’ve decided to go with a new layout! Feedback is always welcome!

In the wake of some of the site display issues lately, we’ve decided to migrate to a new layout. Please feel free to leave feedback if you encounter any display issues! We’re eager to hear about it!

Obviously there are a lot of problems on the site and there are a lot of issues needing to be fixed, or tweaked, or replaced, but rest assured, we’re on it, and YOUR feedback can help us fix the issues. Thanks in advance, all!

    Steady As She Goes
Since first seeing the “new look” I’ve waited a few days to make sure there would be no after shocks, but the site is steady as she goes.

It is comfortable and I’m so glad you kept the smiling woman who greets visitors so pleasantly.

    Change is bad
Just look at the results with the guy who made “Change” his campaign slogan!

I remember when Coca Cola came out with “New Coke” in the 1970s. They made Coke taste just as bad as Pepsi. They had to go back to “Old Coke,” which they renamed, “Coca Cola Classic.”

If something works, leave it alone.

I waited a few days before commenting to see if the new look of the site would grow on me. It hasn’t. Somehow the site now looks irritating to me. Maybe it’s the smaller print. I can live with either the old look or the new look. I just don’t see any reason for the change.

The old look is still available
Just select the old look in your account profile and you’ll have that familiar look when you log in.

      Love the new tower graphic!

not bad if you listeners/viewers like it
change is not always bad if you listeners love it or not then u might want to leave them feedback so you can enhanced it if you need to.

    You’re Right
    There is something different.

Are we still at the real part15.us,

or is this a cyber security takeover?

        Links don’t work?
When clicking on some of the links on the page, the ERROR 403 FORBIDDEN message pops up. Looks good though.

          Links don’t work?

The following links rsult in the ERROR 403 – FORBIDDEN response:
          SSTRAN
          Whole House Xmitter
          Rangemaster.

A sampling of others all worked OK. I get the same error using IE8 and Firefox.

I have IE8 and Firefox installed. Recently I have using Firefox exclusively because it is very much faster than IE8. I have the latest updates installed for both. Here are the results for both for the Forum page on part15.us.

          IE8
          First screen visible 15 seconds
Done loading all information 23 seconds
          Firefox
          First screen visible 5 seconds
Done loading all information 15 seconds

            Not Much Difference
I’ve not noticed any new problems. Before the change I had some problems with IE8 locking up and required to be closed/reopened, sometimes with Task Manager.

I haven’t noticed any speed change in the loading of the pages.

    A themeing change shouldn’t
A themeing change shouldn’t change the load speed, but still I’m making some more tweaks to site for load speed, hope they help 🙂

    let me know!

    new way to be slow
I am outta here, the pages take sooooooolooooooong to load, its as if I went back to my old 486 and Windows 3.1
    errors on every page,every time.
IE reports Unknown Zone (mixed) which I dont ever see on any other webpage. Some links lock up IE so bad it needs to be closed by Task Manager! GO BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        New look and IE
Thanks to all for the comments and to the admin for adding the new look option. The new look is an option, if you prefer the old, go to the my account link, click the edit tab and scroll down to the Theme configuration pane and select the Garland theme.

I am full time FireFox user but I opened our site in IE and, at least in my case, I get the same issues as Lee reported. I really can’t use the site browsing with IE.

I’m guessing it might be some of the security settings in IE but I really don’t know.

Any other users able to browse with IE and if so, what ver and did you change anything from the default settings?

I’m going to put the old
I’m going to put the old theme back as the default for now, at least until we can figure out some of the IE problems.

Also going to look into why the outbound links are coming up with a 403 error… they obviously shouldn’t 🙂

OK I think I solved most of the problems. Wilcom Labs: are you still seeing the issues you had before? Can folks report in on what they’re seeing?

      Thanks!
