A Blast from the Past

December 23, 2006 by scwis 2 Comments

I just rediscovered a delightfully nostalgic web site that I really enjoy. The structure reminds me of some of our early efforts and there are some dead links to cope with, but the information is pure gold.

MORE

A great starting point is broadcasting from the home – lots of great links on that page

Buried elsewhere are:

• The Graymark Transmiter

• Knight Kit Home Broadcasters – Allied Electronics

• Remco Caravelle

• Type 33 Broadcaster

• Rush Reunited With Boyhood Radio

• Popular Electronics first year – 1954.

    Thank you
Seasons greetings to you an all here.

I have one of these KnightKit AM transmitters which I built in 1959. It still works! There is nothing like the glow of vacuum tubes to warm the spirit (and a bag of cashews carefully placed on top of the unit).

      Another cashew warmer
I was amazed to find an AM BCB adaptation of the Lil 7 Peanut Whistle that had escaped me until now, here:

Experimental broadcasting for a better tomorrow!
