spareparts started the topic Any interest in a "how-to" for replacing ISDN BRI with VoIP? in the forum Broadcast Equipment 1 year, 1 month ago
There are broadcast stations that are tossing out their ISDN BRI broadcast telephone systems for cheap (or free)
The team came up with a reliable method to generate the multiple ISDN BRI lines from a SIP telephone trunk. In our case we have 12 lines (six BRI) on a single gateway.
The gateways can be configured as 2, 4, or 6 ports, all in single…[Read more]

Sound advice – As an example, The Pacifica Foundation (non-profit radio network) ended up with a set of bylaws that allowed the local stations to be manipulated by a small group of people into near bankruptcy, and perpetual strife at the local and national level. Textbook example of what **not** to do.
Fortunately, our initial board has it’s…[Read more]

Funny that this should come up – Our Makerspace/podcast studio that transmorgified into a Part 15 station is going down this road right now.
The number is going to vary state to state, but the filing fees and cheapest attorney we could find is going to be about $1200. Filing the 990 (the nonprofit tax return) is projected to cost $660 a ye…[Read more]

If you want to see a non-commercial station that really has jumped the shark, look at WBAI in NYC (they are non-comm right in the middle of the band)
Between their hawking pseudo–scientific cures and offering revisionist history about minorities in America, you have to wonder how they ended up this way.
They used to be a serious and respected…[Read more]

Have you asked them to include your requests in the public file?
Next would be a registered letter asking to inspect and copy the public file during business hours. Failure to allow this is a major issue and will cause a license issue for them.
BTW, They are normally on-line, however WPKN has not met the March 1, 2018 deadline to put theirs…[Read more]

Quick question: Did your team write the statement of policy at https://www.wbxoclassicrock.com/policy or was it farmed out to an attorney?
I need one for CDL was curious if we could use the WBXO document as a starting point for our attorney.

Gamewell,
The headshot of Laura Picardo at https://www.wbxoclassicrock.com/personalities shows an Avaya 8410D phone in the background.
Are you are running a Avaya Definity / CM at WBXO?
I maintain a network of the beasts at the day job, so it kind of stood out

Quick (very unofficial) update on things at the CDL:
The volunteers running the two programs (CDL and IXR) in building 9059 at InfoAge have decided to merge the programs.
What that potentially brings to the equation:
- More people who actually want to get on the air (less automation).
- Expanding the on-air stream to include studio video.
