Part15 Layout Fluctuation
February 24, 2013 in Uncategorized
Just a quick note to let everyone know that they aren’t ‘crazy’ if it seems like where things are keeps changing! I am moving things around periodically right now – the layout is still in flux for hte new site – it will settle soon, but we aren’t done yet.
The changes are trying to find the ‘right’ place to add things back in that were here before, without cluttering things up again – trying to balance keeping things clean with functional.
Let me know if there is something you are missing and I will make it a priority to get it ‘back’
(ALSO – organizing some old posts so they are appearing as ‘recent’ sorry about that – doesn’t seem to be anyway around it unfortunately)
Cheers!

No Thanks Givin?

After a week of allowing my forum’s library resource being publicly viewable, and tracking and tracing IP’s to who and where, not a single one from here offers up any kind of thank you’s??
One of the reasons why it is now locked down to members only and leech and hotlink protected at the host!
I know who downloaded what and when and where they are. Sad man..just sad.
YOUR WELCOME! :/

Real World
December 18, 2012 in Uncategorized
Life is not a simulated circumstance. If it was, we all could simply simulate riches and happiness and eliminate hunger and wars and hate.
The other side to the coin…when proof of real world circumstance is given in large quantities..practically every single day..there are those who still tuck the head into the sand and pretend a reality.
Either it is a mental issue, or simply a fear issue of what really is and hiding is preferred.
An individual is defined by actions..not words. In times when defining a thing or someone can be morphed at the moment to fit an agenda, it’s obvious the one doing the morph dance is the one needing a refinement.
Stand up for truth and reality..or cower down into submission because it’s easier and requires no exercising of the mass on top.
Maybe that’s why there is a false premise in many..that everything is fine. Perhaps….just perhaps in a virtual reality many put themselves into..so much so and for so long it becomes their reality to no ends.
Better to hide in the corner than stand out and be noticed, and note the faults causing reality to be crashing down.
It applies to any issue, any topic, any field. Perhaps this is the infancy mankind must outgrow. Once that happens, perhaps our futures will be a lot brighter. Swallow the ego and premise of be all end all and admit that we/you are not.
The beginning of wisdom begins with not knowing and admitting to not knowing.
Maybe in another couple hundred years the mental state of mankind will grow out of it’s infancy.
This is more of an editorial commentary and requires no response here. The best place to respond is within your own heads and let that fight the battle within instead of dragging it out where it is useless.
Look in the mirror…see where the problems really are.
Look in the mirror…see where the solutions must come from.
Eyes open, mind open, ears open….mouth shut.
See things for what they are, not what they are not to appease your comfy zone.
Fill the void with something useful instead of cluttering it up with uselessness.

Jan 6 Update: Forum Changes and System Upgrade Status
November 17, 2012 in Uncategorized
Sunday Jan 6 – Hi All, just a quick note to say that I think we have all the bugs worked out of the upgrade (please let me know if something isn’t working as expected or if anything peculiar is still happening) so now we can move on to other changes to improve the site.
The first of those changes some of you have probably noticed and that is that the forums now have categories for : transmitters, antennas, broadcast equipment, media / content, rules / regulations etc. Over time, I will move the ‘old’ topics into the appropriate categories, but please begin using them right away – I know topics can cross the line between topics so don’t sweat it too much, just do your best to pick an appropriate category.
cheers!

Saturday Dec 29, There are a few lingering problems with the upgrade (some reports of being unable to comment, or getting 503 service unavailable errors) – I appreciate everyone’s patience as we work through the remaining issues. It appears to be a problem in the anti-spam module (which is working well at blocking the spam, but is also causing stability issues).
Again, thanks for your patience – we are almost done ๐

Friday Dec 21 – update: Well, it has not been as smooth as I would have wanted, but I think it has been a succesful upgrade. There are still a few nagging things to fix but nothing that affects actual ‘use’ of the forum.
1) resizing to work on a mobile device is the remaining thing I want to get fixed before making any other changes.
Thanks everyone for your patience!
Cheers!

Sunday Dec 16 7PM PST – well, it seems that no matter how many test upgrades I did – the ‘proper’ upgrade wasn’t going to go easily! I apologise to all but hte upgrade has definitely taken longer than expected and caused MANY headaches. It is MOSTLY done now, but not entirely, you SHOULD be able to get in and read / post to the forums etc and just presentation stuff will change (I hope).
Again, I will create another post shortly and please reply with anything you find that doesn’t work properly.
Cheers!

Sunday Dec 16 – Upgrade is going to happen today. The site will be offline for about an hour starting at 3pm PST. Hang in there everyone!
Almost done! Just a quick heads up that the test upgrades on the Beta site have gone very well and barring any unforeseen mishaps, I will upgrade the main site tomorrow (Sunday, Dec 16). If you notice something NOT WORKING, please POST a REPLY to this thread so I can keep a log and make sure I fix everything.
Cheers!

Part One is now complete – a successful update to the version we are currently running (some of you might have noticed that things got a little wonky a day or two ago and it lasted about a half an hour) there were a couple glitches, but over all was mostly not painful.
I will be updating the beta site later today to practice the major upgrade again and then hopefully we can get through it this weekend.
Cheers!

Hi Part15ers – after the successful email system upgrade last week – it is now time to complete the major system upgrade (we are upgrading from Drupal 6 to Drupal 7 – it makes maintenance easier and provides a better platform for making changes and adding new features).
I will be testing the upgrade here http://beta1.part15.us/ (there is already an upgraded version of the site located there, but it will be up and down a few times as we practice the upgrade a few times so the transition on our public site will be as smooth as possible)
After the upgrade it is likely that SOME THINGS WILL NOT WORK PROPERLY – please be patient, this is a major upgrade and it is likely that some things will break, just keep letting me know if something doesn’t work properly and I will fix it ๐
I am aiming to do the upgrade at the end of next week (the 22nd, 23rd or 24th) – I am not certain of the exact date yet, it is dependant on how well the practice upgrades go – but will let everyone know when we are closer to the date.
The upgrade itself shouldn’t take too long, perhaps an hour more or less, during which time the site will be unavailable. Again, I will let everyone know closer to the date what time the upgrade will take place.
Any questions, don’t hesitate to ask! And if there is new functionality you would like to see, let me know!
Cheers!
