I find station promotion to be one of my biggest challenges, if not the biggest. I broadcast in a high-density area, where there are some businesses such as small restaurants….but other than places like the local Micky D’s, not too much (although I suppose I could do stuff through the small bodega type store down the street). It’s tough to g…[Read more]
Radio Free Connecticut is “Your True Alternative” at 1540 AM. https://www.facebook.com/1540-AM-Radio-Free-Connecticut-680518518760296/
TheLegacy offers: “We take requests from the people within range and from the internet as well.”
I also take music requests, and publicize a phone number for comments/reception reports/song requests. That number is 203-545-5393. 🙂
My station, Radio Free Connecticut, airs music most of the time….I play a wide variety of stuff. This includes 80s/90s rock and pop, classic hip hop, R&B from the 80s to about 2000, and the occasional country song and/or new music. You really never know what I will play next….that’s what makes the station interesting, IMHO.

Doing a “Mid Week Slow Jams” show tonight, as we speak. Right now, as of 7:36 PM eastern on 10/10/2018, “You Can’t Change That” by Raydio is playing. Sound quality/reception seems to be pretty good tonight. 🙂
Mixed up a new frequency change announcement….if you haven’t heard, Radio Free Connecticut will now be broadcasting on 1540 AM, instead of 1650 AM.
Here’s my announcement, inspired by the old phone company tones. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1l8e4XayPkS3Qma1o76FgfDNvLaKd4aq-
Oh, BTW, I plan to do a broadcast after I get home f…[Read more]
Here’s an update from the files of Radio Free Connecticut.
Unfortunately, I have found that my station on 1650 khz interferes with the local TIS station, which broadcasts ten watts on 1670 khz. The station in question can usually be reliably received at my broadcast location. However, when I’m on the air, this is not so. As such, I have fo…[Read more]

Time for an update, me thinks.
I’ve been working a bit on getting a new station up and running. About a month ago, I had the interesting idea to bring Part 15 AM radio to the downtown area of my hometown. IMHO, a music-and-events type of station on 1680 khz would be a perfect fit for this area.
As is the usual, the problem has come in a…[Read more]

I’m of the opinion that I don’t need to notify the FCC about my part 15 station. After all, I’m doing something that is specifically permitted by law. Even if I wasn’t, I wouldn’t say much about it….a good general rule to use around police and other authorities is KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT.
Police will pose as if they were your friends….but t…[Read more]
