Zara Free is skipping over all songs as if they are not there. I uninstalled the program and reinstalled but when I drag the songs into the list it does the same thing. This started out of nowhere. Any ideas?

Total posts : 45366My initial thought is that the songs are a format Zara doesn’t recognize.. are all the songs mp3, wav, wma, or ogg?
I do recall having something happening to me on a particular mp3.. I couldn’t figure out why it wouldn’t play, and eventually I brought it into Audacity and re-exported it as a new mp3 and it played. Never did figure out what was wrong with the original.

Total posts : 45366How do you have it set up in the drop down menu?
Normal
Repeat
Shuffle
or
Random?
I have mine set to random and sometimes I have the delete upon play button pressed, so mine does not repeat a song or play a song twice in a given time period, to re-add everything back to the list, I do not save upon closing Zara Radio.
Upon restart, all my songs are back in the list again.
Just figured I’d share that tid-bit with everyone.
Bruce.

Total posts : 45366Sometimes zara can get a bit wonky with mp3 licenses. You might try opening one of the MP3s in windows media player, this will obtain the license. I’ve typically only seen this issue in Windows 98 machines however.

Do you have the log generator turned on for Zara? If so check the logs, it will tell you what Zara thinks is happening.

Total posts : 45366Yes. Very bizzare. Was working fine and then stopped. The log reports that the files are:The file’s format is not recognised/supported (C:UsersMusicBlue Cheer – Summertime Blues.mp3) Go figure

Total posts : 45366Could they have gotten corrupted somehow? Do they play in winamp or WMP?
BSI’s Simian does this as well.

Total posts : 45366I ripped a new CD. Pointed Zara to the directory. Songs listed in the playlist but the length is not there. I can play the songs with Winamp and iTunes just fine. Very strange.

Total posts : 45366Thats a windows thing. I keep mentioning Windows Media Player for a reason, Zara uses WMP for all media playback. WMP can be very goofy with CD Rips in particular, often it has to open a file to figure out how long it is.
I cannot tell you why this happens, just one of those quirky computer bugs.
Granted if you used WMP to rip the CDs this no longer applies as well as I’d hope.

Total posts : 45366What was the format you ripped them too. If you ripped them as .aac or mp4 files, Zara wont play them. Best to be mp3.

Total posts : 45366Have you tried to uninstall Zara and reinstall to see if that fixes anything?

Total posts : 45366Perhaps it might have something to do with a conflict caused with a recent windows update.. In the last couple days a usb over-the-air tv receiver of mine just quit working, and I finally was able to track it down to a recent windows update.. it created a problem with a dll file that caused a conflict.. I just got it working again..
You might want to try doing a system restore and moving it back a few days before the problem started (or has that been mentioned already?) or maybe try opening the command prompt by right clicking on it, and select “run as adminsitrator”, then type in “sfc /scannow” and see if it gives you any errors.
