Right now. As you read this. Type in what is being broadcast on your Part 15 station. Be it a song/artist, a commercial, the news or whatever. What is on RIGHT NOW. Don’t post what WAS on, or what’s coming up, but what is on RIGHT NOW as you read this! Should be fun.

I need to wear my glasses more often, especially when I am typing! As nasty as PBR is, I can’t imagine how nasty it would be after a millenium!
I am already a time traveller… at least thats what I tell everyone after I have had a few adult beverages. I am currently under a self imposed time travel ban.
Currently playing at 8:21 10-2-2016. A promo that says I play a variety of music. It has several snippits from mostly classic country… but ends with a snippit by The Cleverlys..Put a Ring on it. Bluegrass version of a modern song. You never know what you will hear!

Laurie Loman – Johnny Angel
The big hit recording was, of course, from Shelley Fabares in 1962. But prior to that, in 1960, this song was recorded twice – first by Georgia Lee, and then by Laurie Loman. I prefer this recording the most out of all three, even though it never made the Billboard charts (neither did Georgia Lee’s). Just goes to show that charting isn’t everything.

Shaman Drumming at 432hz – Spiritual Music – A soundtrack for the soul
- November 2, 2016 at 4:53 am #51797
Yes Johnny Angel is a good examole of lots of songs that were big hits but weren’t the originals and other versions that were done before the hit version are rarely known. I just learned now about other recordings of Johnny Angel! Only on part 15 and BETS-1 radio would you ever hear all this other stuff that would never make it to commercial radio. This is the service we provide…a true alternative.

KDX Worldround Radio is quiet at the moment so I can concentrate on editing for Low Power Hour No. 118 which is overdue for release.
Also I have recently developed a habit of watching half of a black and white movie from the 1940s every night. I’ll either see the other half later the same night or the next night. Tonight’s film is “The Strange Woman” from 1946.
If KDX doesn’t resume later tonight it will start early in the morning with The Thom Hartmann Show.

Buddy Clinton & the Belmonts – How My Prayers Have Changed
I think (but I’m not sure) that these are the same Belmonts that performed with Dion.
- November 21, 2016 at 8:41 pm #52029
Some more info on my previous post. Apparently this recording was the A side of a single on Bob Shad’s Time record label (#1016 to be precise), released in 1959.
Dion joined his Belmonts in 1957 (they had been around for a little while and already had released 2 singles that didn’t chart), and left the group in 1960 for a solo career. Dion & the Belmonts recorded on the Laurie label, and their biggest hit was in 1959 – A Teenager in Love.
So whether these were the same Belmonts is still up in the air. How My Prayers Have Changed is very reminiscent of A Teenager in Love, and both groups recorded out of New York City (I found How My Prayers Have changed on an ACE compilation of obscure Bob Shad recordings from his Time, Shad and Brent record labels).

Rarely any coverage at night. No one else is on 1500 any where near Northern New England. But I can’t cut through the night haze. I’m off at sundown. On at, or pre-sunrise. Our 1000 watt full timer Non-DA gets cut WAY back at night under a flood of noise and hash! Even at a 1000 watts! GAHHH!

At the same time on my full power its the Texas Red Dirt Roads program featuring local “red dirt” country music. For those unfamiliar with red dirt country it sounds a lot like the Outlaw Country of the 70s, which makes sense as both genres originated from Texas. Artists like Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Tony Ramey, early Pat Green, The Zac Brown Band, Lonestar, Gene Watson, etc.

No, I’m not playing “Rainy Monday” by…. by,uh, I forget who it’s by. Anyway it really is a rainy monday here in the midwaste.
Every Sunday night through Monday morning we air TUC Radio from Maria Gilardin and at the moment Ralph Nader is pseaking at City Lights Books in San Francisco about his new book… and he just delivered a sequence about the corporate take-over of the public airwaves and I marked it for use in the Low Power Hour being worked on today.
Now I must rush to a new thread I’m starting about working harder in retirement than during the actual career, in radio of course.
TO MARK: Yes! An mp3 file is all we need to run your programs on the New KHZ Coming Soon!
TO DRUID HILLS: I want to play “Moon of Alabama” by the Doors, as soon as possible, but I can’t stream it “oh you know why.”

Earlier the “San Francisco Season” was missing the word “Symphony”.
It’s later now, or it’s now, now, but later than earlier… um…
Another classical program is on… KDX mostly runs talk shows but everytime I come on this thread it seems classical is playing… makes me look stuffy.
I’m not stuffy!!
The piece is the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto, played by Camilla Wickes, a woman almost cheated of her violin career by men who gave her 5 children. But she was so good on the violin that some of her recordings sell on e-bay for $400!
I’ve thought about an all violin concerto format for KDX. There are 3,000 violin concertos!
The violin is an instrument heard in romantic movies as much as the Theramin is heard in horror films.

Does Amy and Noam know the exact date of this upcoming attack? And will Russia join in as an ally?
- April 5, 2017 at 2:59 pm #53887
Druid Hills got to wondering: “Does Amy and Noam know the exact date of this upcoming attack? And will Russia join in as an ally?”
Carl looks back in his memory and thinks…
I don’t recall Russia being mentioned but according to our records “Democracy Now” is carried on a station in your area and you should be able to find out for yourself by contacting WLSL, which from what I hear is well run and very responsive to listeners.
- April 5, 2017 at 5:05 pm #53890
I will get with them for an answer.

Sunday morning at 9 is the perfect time for the Hour of Slack coming from Cleveland Heights, Ohio, because this is the hour when many people are skipping church.
But this morning’s show, while good, has me on edge because it’s an X-rated show.
The new album “Tango Lessons in a Fascist Whorehouse” by the Rudy Schwartz Project is being featured, and I’m not sure how much church-skippers will withstand before considered some kind of protest.
We understand there are no actual FCC rules about content on a part 15 station, but most of us adhere to a kind of acceptance of the decency standards for grown-up radio stations, but at the same time this is the real world where our tax money is used to cripple and burn people as long as they’re very far away.

By the way, taking a hat off can be a gesture of respect toward whoever is in one’s presence, but you aren’t in my presence so I have to verbalize, DHR… I’ll put the hat back on once you know that I’ve taken it off by way of saying “Thanks!”
What did you say to deserve the hat? “Carl: As you know we air the HOS on our LPFM. I have a collection of FCC Clean shows on CD that you are welcomed to. If you like, send me a place I can mail them to on our secret back channel.”
That is a great gesture on your part and I’ve thought about it all day.
We were off the air for 2-hours while an electric storm passed by.
Here’s what I’ll do for the time being…
Since KDX has the sole mission of serving me, it’s listener, and since I like the music of the Rudy Schwartz Project and am not personally offended by their words, and given the fact that the FCC doesn’t impose a language ban on part 15 stations, and there have been no actual complaints, I will continue as is.
Should any difficulties arise in the future I will have my attorney notify the complaining neighbor that what I broadcast on my private station is none of their gud dum business, but if officials start intimidating me I’ll use the “clean versions” as proof that I’m conforming to authoritarian dictatorship. So, hold onto them unless all hell breaks loose.

KDX Worldround Radio has been running full-sail at 1680 kHz out to a Grundig FR-200 Portable, Amy Goodman talking about serious news stories that I’ve already forgotten, followed by “Freethought Radio” with Annie Laurie and Dan visiting with the late Christopher Hitchens, all while I manually cut grass with a precision Brill German made mower.
In competition the continual roar of industrial tree mulching equipment is running as lumberjacks work 50-feet up taking a tree apart in an adjoining yard.
To inject some drama the sky is loaded with “thunder head” clouds and dark gray spots signalling a nearby storm.
Now we have “The Skeptic’s Guide To the Universe” with the panel deciding not to use United for their upcoming travel plans.
Ya, I’ve heard that Bill O’Reilly has been drummed out, but he never did have any talent, so what difference does it make?

Right now, at 4:38 PM eastern on 5/12/2017, it’s “Party All The Time” by Eddie Murphy. And yes, he did actually have a hit with this song, in 1984. Was scheduled to do a political interview on air tonight, but my guest couldn’t make it….requiring me to do a replacement show. :-/

Every Friday evening it’s “Ask An Atheist” with Tom Mulvey, a member here by the way, and the show is just ending. Tom and his co-host had a super-fun show, lots of laughing. Made me want to be an atheist.

I am simulcasting the internet feed for WTWW transmitter #2. Country music, oldies. It’s on my brand new Scosche FMT4R, gets out pretty good, been running it all afternoon and listening on my big 1980 boombox.

KDX Worldround Radio has begun a policy of closing the radio station at about 2 PM on Sunday until 6 PM when we return to the air.
It’s an opportunity to do anything other than radio.
Today included a film noir movie which started out with scenes in hell, complete with hapless people being burned by fire with no escape (“Devil On My Shoulder”).
The film was a lot of trouble to make because it had to show people in fire.
It caused me to wonder why Christians call the devil the “prince of darkness” when in fact light itself is caused by solar fire.
Yet another contradiction of religion that no one thinks about.

Right now, at 0.07am GMT, we have Faith Hill “Thereyou’ll be”
- May 17, 2017 at 5:13 pm #54444
Your observation is correct. Even more confusing is that Lucifer equals Light Bearer. These Christians are a lot of fun sometimes.

It’s 5:09 PM eastern on 5/17/2017, and Radio Free Connecticut is playing “She’s A Bad Mama Jama” by Carl Carlton. 🙂

KDX Worldround Radio from the Internet Building in the Center of North America just carried Quartet K. 493 by Mozart performed at the Opening of the Daniel Barenboim Concert Hall in Berlin, Germany, for tonight’s final concert of the 26 program series of Deutsche-Welle Festival Concerts.
Next week in this time period begins a 13-week series “Live From Carnegie Hall” from New York City.
The sun is going down out on our campus and Henry Morgan will be coming on later with one of his rants from the 1940s.
Our website at kdxradio.com was closed today to mark my growing disenchantment with websites and online streaming, this being the final day of our 9th Year On the Air.
Tomorrow KDX will be 10 Years Old!

Once again Ian and Mark are taking phone calls on “Free Talk Live” but I haven’t been paying attention and have no idea what they’re talking about.
At 12 Noon Amy Goodman will be talking with author Naomi Klein about her new book “No Is Not Enough” which has also been recently featured on TUC Radio with Maria Gilardin.
At 1 PM the San Francisco Symphony will appear the second to the last time on KDX as my affiliation with the Fine Arts Network expires at the end of the month and I’ve chosen not to renew.
Also June 30 will be the end of streaming for KDX as we shrink to yardcasting with talk programming I can ignore.

Yes, the dark shadows in the doorway window are lighting up and KDX is carrying two hours of news on “Loud and Clear” from Radio Sputnick.
Ever since “our” government went on the attack against RT (Russia Today) and Radio Sputnick I have been carrying their newscasts. If the ham-heads in the White House complain about it, it must be something good, and indeed it’s first rate and excellent!
If you don’t agree with that maybe you’ll agree with this:
Boy that first surge of coffee in the morning has got to be one of life’s finest experiences! Here, have some.

Getting darker in the window, windy outside but on the mild side with upper 50s.
“The World Accxording to Jesse” rings out on all frequencies, Jesse Ventura and his female co-host Brigita talking about food preservatives that poison us.
I just came back from the Save-So-Much Store with two weeks of supplies, and I always wonder at things like the new permanently fluffy bread that remains so squishy bouncy unlike the dried-out bread of the past. I read somewhere that factory bakeries use a plastic additive to keep the spring in a loaf of bread.
Looking around the store I notice customers barely stumbling, dragging and crawling their way way around, getting a fix for their salty needs and coming close to meeting their maker from those cell-phone cars speeding through the parking lot.
Carl makes a note to mention it on THE SUNDAY MORNING NEWS.
- January 27, 2018 at 12:27 am #56483
People squeeze the bread and think the softer and fluffier it is, the fresher?….NO!
If you read the ingredients you’ll see the chemicals added to make it like this. Google these things and see what they really are.

Being a talk station, KDX is broadcasting talk.
“Free Talk Live” is talking about something to do with tax rules, but I haven’t been listening very closely.
“Democracy Now” will be on next, but I don’t know what the topics will be.
Being Monday, Harry Shearer “le Show” will be on, followed by “Law and Disorder” with the civil rights attorney hosts, and “Atheist Experience” which is always fun because Christians call in and try to explain why the atheists are wrong.
I am thinking about doing a Blare OnAir live show from the TeamSpeak room because I have many ideas to talk about. Will you have time to join me?

“Loud and Clear”, 2-hour news program from the Washington DC studios of Radio Sputnik.
Meanwhile, sitting at the control desk, we are calculating a second radio station to be launched very soon.
For several years I’ve been threatening to open Radio Station KHZ as an “indoor antenna experimental station”, and the idea has grown to use KHZ both for that purpose and function as a permanent 2nd station.
We face an ice storm this afternoon.

In a matter of minutes it will be the weekly “Philosophy Talk” program live on stage with an audience, two Stanford philosophy professors and their special guests hold a mock debate on some aspect of existence, belief, psychological theories, politics and what-not, never coming to a conclusion.
Then the weekly TUC Radio with Maria Gilardin tonight bringing Part 2 of a speech from Daniel Elsberg comparing the nuclear scare during the Vietnam era to the rising nuclear tensions under today’s crackpot regime.

- February 9, 2018 at 10:24 pm #56537
Days later since we last checked in, Harry Schearer and his “le Show” is on, as he files through a number of recent events and makes wry comments, as he has done for over 30 years on radio!
You may be aware of Mr. Shearer, the voice behind many of the characters on “The Simpsons” and movie actor in several Christopher Guest comedies.
I’m just back from a trip to “Save-So-Much”, my food store of choice, and noticed that the customers all looked closer to death than they had the last time.
Except for this one young woman in dark blue medical garb with her extraordinary figure and stunning walk. I was impressed that she’d made it this far without being weighed down by motherhood several times over. Maybe she knows a guidance doctor who protects her from the vulgar world.
And now back to the program.
- February 10, 2018 at 10:28 am #56541
Up early to check on possible ice storm but it looks dry out on campus.
For about the past two weeks the all night stretch on KDX has been filled by what the artists call “Dark Ambient”, available in large quantities free under Creative Commons license from the Internet Archive.
In general it sounds like air standing still or a river that barely moves in the darkness where you can’t see it. For me it is extremely compatible with sleep and the silence of the night. I’d like to dedicate a whole station to it, which is why I’ve been talking about running 3 different stations. It’s a complete departure from the nasty juvenalia pouring out of deplorable D.C.

Stuph File here also.
Holder really deserves to be syndicated…
- February 12, 2018 at 2:23 pm #56560
We agree with Jim Henry that Peter Anthony Holder deserves greater recognition through widespread syndication.
One program syndicate that does re-distribute The Stuph File is Keith Perron’s PCJ Media in Tapei, Taiwan, and since last week we’ve been wondering about how Keith fared in his high rise apartment since the earthquake over there, so this morning we downloaded his “The Happy Station Show” and indeed Keith spends several minutes describing how the earthquake was strongest on the east coast of Taiwan, even though he felt it at a weaker velocity following an alert received on the mandated earthquake alarm system installed in his building.
You may wonder how it is that KDX carried “The Happy Station” given the fact that the show contains copyrighted music. Well, we shut off our Icecast stream and listened only on our campus FM station which does not reach the public.

The best sleep is done with no artificial sound in the house, such as a radio. But being a radio station makes it tempting to have a receiver turned on to admire the programming while dozing off.
But talk programming that digs into issues can stimulate responses and can lead to waking up at the wrong hour such as 3 AM.
I found that airing “dark ambient” programming was at first very compatible with a pleasant sleep with sound that mixed in with the quiet night.
But the sleeping brain is remarkably sensitive and even small variations in the background “ambient sound” have sparked responses. In one case I awoke abruptly and thought I had “heard something”. Then I remembered that the ambient music was on the air… apparently the sleeping brain had not “learned” to distinquish between real and artificial noise.
Then last night, in the depths of dreaming, someone kept holding side conversations with the person I was with (in the dream). I couldn’t figure out what they were talking about, but slowly became half-awake and realized there was a muffled voice speaking as part of the ambient track on the radio. I did not like the fact that a voice on the radio was interferring with my dream, so the ambient programming is now officially banned.
From now on there is no one “on duty” at the radio station overnight, and no one listening.

If you want to enjoy it there are good recordings of it on YouTube.

Yes, I have it on my playlist. as simple as it gets but simple is good. 1950s garage rock at it’s best.
