The weather bureau’s own word in describing the abrupt cold snap in the U.S. was “plunging”. They said that a polar vortex would be “plunging” into the states… almost all of the states… taking us deep into a deep freeze.
What about Canada? Is the weather also chilled in Canada? Or, do you folks up there (“up” there?) live under the cold air as it flies toward us for “plunging”.
The KDX porch thermometer reads 9-degrees although it might be frozen, the airport 30-miles away reports 22-degrees, today’s high will be 23-degrees and tonight’s plunge will go down to minus-2-degrees.
Yesterday’s high of 36-degrees gave us the opportunity to go out and do everything that would normally be spread throughout the week, so we could hunker through without need of going out into it.
How much heat comes from our 100-mW transmitters? Whatever it is, it’s very welcome at this time and we hope your pipes don’t burst.

With the 2019 Polar Vortex plunked down upon us, this morning’s temperature is minus-5-degrees (F) with today’s high expected to be plus-7-degrees.
Unlike last year’s Vortex, this one will not linger for weeks, and by Friday temperatures will be already up in the 40s.
Our Internet Building shelter is performing very well with an even 60-degrees here at the KDX Control Desk.
By the way, “The Cold Song” was composed by Henry Purcell during the Baroque period, and the artist, Klaus Nomi, was one of the most amazing artists of our time but died early before becoming widely known. Even years in music radio didn’t inform me about Mr. Nomi until I happened to hear his quirky rendition of “Ding Dong the Witch is Dead” which is now my favorite song. His name “Nomi” is a play on “know me”, as he hoped people would know him as a performance artist. There is an impressive collection of his work on YouTube.
