Words are industrial tools, said R. Buckminster Fuller, and sticks and stones are words, says Carl Blare.
Of many verbal short-cuts used by people to punch each other one that can be very frustrating is “who cares.”
The expression “who cares” can be used in place of a slap-in-the-face to discount your thoughts and opinions.
Over Thanksgiving I took issue with the quaint story of how the American Indians saved the settlers by providing food, mentioning that right afterward all the Indians were shot dead.
Having no sense of political correctness I went on by likening the slaughter of the Indians in early America to the genocide against Palestinians being waged today by Israel.
“Who cares what happened to the Indians!” screamed my Christian fundamentalist friend, conflating the two genocides in her belief that Biblical prophesy is being fulfilled in the middle-east.
Who cares whether I ever talk to her again.
As far as part 15 and hobby broadcasters are concerned, the ALPB cares.
