Something I’ve been meaning to do for decades … take the amateur radio license test (really late bloomer).
Something I’ve been meaning to do for decades … take the amateur radio license test (really late bloomer).
I had every intention of going straight for the General class (even considered the Extra Class), but when I found out the test date was this close, I decided to just go ahead with the Technician License and wait to study the information, rules, and question pool for the General Class next time.
I covet your encouragement and prayers to pass it …

If you haven’t already, search on-line for practice exams and take them. This is great practice and you will probably see many of the same questions on the exam.

http://www.qrz.com/examsThese are essentially from the exam question pool. I think the current ones are all there (they just updated), but there are only 35 in the exam, taken from that pool.
I think I’ll also start practicing Morse Code again. When I was young, I got impatient and quit because I couldn’t copy fast enough. CW is still going to get you more STS DX. I’m awed by the experts.
http://www.coolestone.com/media/787/Text-Messaging-Vs-Morse-Code—-Jay-Leno/I once met a guy at Lake Tahoe that was a world champion when he was in the Navy … obviously sometime after Ted McElroy’s record was broken (lasted 60 years).
‘Course, could do RTTY, but I’d like to overcome the challenge, and certainly more affordable than, say, 45 min. of ACM in a SIAI Marchetti SF260 …
