We had very cold weather while it was still autumn and since winter started on December 21st temperatures have yo-yoed below and above freezing with no severity.
Now we face the first snow of the year (for us here in the mid-Mississippi Valley) through the night on Friday.
We will hunker down at KDX and do some serious broadcasting into the night hours, there are at least four people within range of our signal, maybe they’ll get off their computers and turn on the radio.
We’ll do snow reports at 10-minute intervals.January 10, 2019 at 11:09 am #108672AMRadiolegendParticipant

It’s Going On Now
CARL: It’s been snowing steadily for some time now and things are very white.
For more we switch to Malcolm Krutz standing out in it.
KRUTZ: Krutz here, on furlough from my government job, reporting from half-way between Chicago and Little Rock. The snow is floating straight down as there are no winds to blow it sideways. The ground underneath was already cold so there’s little chance of ice. Returning you now to Carl Blare inside the Internet Building.
CARL: We are broadcasting non-stop to keep you aware of what’s going on here, in a place you are somewhere else in relation to.January 12, 2019 at 6:46 am #108715
Saturday morning is buried in white and thought is being given to digging a path to reconnect with civilization.
That is not a giant white-frosting cake stacked up on the bird bath. It’s about 12″ of snow.
KDX radio waves are traveling invisibly over the snow without getting messed up.January 12, 2019 at 2:48 pm #108727
Driveway Going Through
A hundred-foot driveway seems even longer when covered with 13″ of snow, but I’m now 1/3 of the way cutting a walking path.
Being snowbound is manageable as long as there’s no pressing need to get out, so the plan is to complete the path by Monday.
Hunkering in progress with frequent cracker and cheese breaks.
KDX is sending words and music into the air giving people a reason to think about radio.
