Has anyone checked out or considered this show? I think it’s excellent.
Radio8Ball originally aired on KAOS college/community station from 1998 to 2008 in Olympia, Washington. Both those old episodes and the new ones are featured for these for these episodes. Currently has over 400 episodes.
The premise is that a call-in caller or a visitor to the studio poses a single question.. which is answered with an usually acoustic song performed live there in the studio.
The process goes like this; There’s the host of the show and a musical guest (the musical guest might be the same for several episodes in a row but they change often. They are all pretty much unknown artist but do have published their own albums) . Then a question from an outside source is posed – it can be any question, like “will Trump be impeached” or “will accepting another job make my life better” or “is my spouse cheating on me”.. anything, any type of question at all.
To answer the question a random method, like flipping a coin, spinning a wheel or turning of cards is used, to determine the answer in the form of a number which correspond with a specific track number on that artist featured album.. The artist then performs that song live in the studio – that songs lyrics is supposed to present the answer to the question which was asked.
Then they talk about it a while and how it relates to the question, and then the show ends.

I listened long enough to agree that “Radio 8 Ball” is a wonderful show full of fun.
Music stations would have to work hard to come up with a reason not to air this!

You know it’s funny, one of their recent shows made me think of you Carl; in a particular episode the girl was talking about her faith and so forth.. and I immediately thought if Carl hears this episode it’s going to immediately turn him off!
But although the show tends to sometimes be kind of in the spiritual or surreal realm point of view, it’s really not about that; it’s fun, and basically is an promotion of unknown artist.
By the way something that tripped me out was that the host Andras Jones has been in about a dozen movies, three of which I’m pretty sure I’ve seen before; ‘Nightmare on Elm Street 4’, ‘The Prom’, and ‘Alien Nation’

Not So Cut and Dry As You Might Think
I can understand why Rich Powers thought:” I immediately thought if Carl hears this episode it’s going to turn him off!”
Actually, I enjoy hearing about what people believe and why they believe it.
If it weren’t for people who believe I wouldn’t have anything to disbelieve.
Some of it gets complex, like American Indians, often represented by Maria Gilardin on her TUC Radio programs, whose ancestry is steeped in spiritual customs and ceremonies, without which they lose their sense of identity.
There is no real distinction between spiritual beliefs and superstitions and yet children are taught that those are two different categories.
Being dual-minded, I am both superstitious and non-superstitious!
There is more we don’t know than what we think we know, and it’s good to keep a list. There are over 9,000 things I don’t know.
Put money in the basket on the way out.

Thought this was cool, came in on an email newsletter:
This week at The Golden Globes…
Patricia Arquette received her Golden Globe From ‘Escape at Dannemora’ with Director Ben Stiller.
Viggo Mortenson starred in Golden Globe winning’Green Book’.
What do these incredible story tellers have in common? They have both been guests of The Radio8Ball show!
And here’s Andras Jones writing about Viggo’s Pop Oracle session:
I’d been trying to get Viggo on the show for years. We worked together back in the late 80’s on a film called “Tripwire”. After the shoot I introduced him to my agents, one of whom is still his manager. We all re-connected when “Captain Fantastic” premiered at the Seattle International Film Festival, which led to this. Listen close. You’ll hear the birds in the background.
Check out the episode featuring Viggo Mortensen & Veda Hille in Apartment Eye from the 8BallVault (by the way I (me, Rich) particularly liked the rendition of the theme in this one. Also; should mention in case it’s the only one you listen to, this is quite different then their regular shows – for one thing it wasn’t done in the studio but in an apartment where it was video taped and the audio is from that video.
