Total posts : 45366I have learned that the MS-100 is the cream of the crop and others are all inferior. That is really the only one you need(you being a general term). No need to get anything else, when you have the best.
April 30, 2020 at 10:15 am #114860
Update.

Been playing around with my CM-10, as all my other transmitters have issues.

I managed to get the cover off, and it does have a CHZ005B branded circuit board inside it.

The tuning range can be modified (as per CZH documentation) if one were so inclined, by a reboot procedure. Power can also be modified in the CZH, but that functionality was removed in the CM-10.

I was told by Decade that extending the antenna length by adding a piece of wire would give better performance. Since it doesn’t appear that the fixed 19 inch included antenna is in any way tuned, that would make sense. Of course, it would void certification. However, given that the range is in no way on a par with an MS-100, it *may* still be Part 15/RSS210/BETS compliant is one does so.

I suspect that I’ll end up trying to purchase a used MS-100. Too bad I sold my spare quite a while ago (to someone in this Forum, I believe).

May 1, 2020 at 5:15 am #114870It seems like there was a resistor soldered between the RF output and ground limiting the power output.
May 1, 2020 at 8:37 pm #114876If you look closely you will also see that one output transistor is removed and bypassed with a jumper.
The antenna BNC connection was switched for the attached antenna.
Even if it is not up to BETS-1 max it can be certified still if under max allowed.Decade told me way back when that to meet max part 15 or BETS-1 a resistor was changed depending where it was being shipped(Canada or USA)
If the tuning range went past 107.5 it couldn’t be certified for BETS.
But I remember Tim’s tests showed the one he got was significantly over part 15. And with audio cables over BETS-1 also. - AuthorPosts
