For at least a year or two now, there have been several pirates in my area. Some of them have gotten several NOUOs. What I found interesting is that the NOUOs no longer state the found field strength. They used to say “the field strength on the frequency <X> was measured at <some number> microvolts per meter…”. However, now it just says “the field strength on the frequency <X> exceeded the maximum permitted level of 250 microvolts…”
This is worrisome if someone was running at 251 uV, but we have no way of knowing now.
There was no FS reading from my FCC visit in 2013 either.
Come to think if it, I don’t recall my paperwork saying anything about exceeding limits, only that they found no license for a station at my location. Theres a bunch of check boxes they can fill out, mine skipped that part.
Huh. Well, I don’t know why they do it sometimes and not others. Cops don’t write you a ticket and say “you were speeding”, they tell you what they found your speed to be.
I wasn’t there for the inspection so I’m not entirely sure what was said or what exactly happened. What I do know is the inspection never made it to the public FCC enforcement logs.
I assume this is becuase my operation was shutdown and transmitters handed over willingly. (Though not by me, there were legal certified transmitters that were removed as well, even ones that were not operational at the time)
I can imagine your parents FREAKED! As far as NOUO’s and field strength goes it would be nice to know the value when they say YOOR OVER. It has went on for 1To 2 yrs.
