Time for an update, me thinks.
I’ve been working a bit on getting a new station up and running. About a month ago, I had the interesting idea to bring Part 15 AM radio to the downtown area of my hometown. IMHO, a music-and-events type of station on 1680 khz would be a perfect fit for this area.
As is the usual, the problem has come in actually getting this done. To make this happen, I would have to have two transmitters (just one isn’t going to cover the desired area) operate at the same time on 1680 AM. These transmitters would probably have to be a bit more portable than the Talking Houses that I have now.
Second, I’d have to have a temporary location to transmit from. I’m thinking of reserving a room at the public library (which is centrally located downtown) for this purpose; rooms are usually available from about noon to five, for two hours at a time.
Anyways….trying to develop this project, but it’s going in fits and starts (again, as usual, LOL). What does everybody think of this latest endeavor?

How would you get your signal from a room in the library outside? Assuming the transmitter is in the room at the library. The AM signal won’t be heard much outside from inside a library.

It’s also pretty problematic to use two transmitters in close proximity to one another on the same frequency. You might be better off to use different frequencies and just advertise that fact (i.e., in this part of town, tune into x, otherwise tune into y).
