WWND 103.9 a LPFM statation was granted a license in April of THIS YEAR information found here:
http://radio-locator.com/info/WWND-FL
Don’t get me wrong I love this stations spirit as they really do serve what is missing from commercial Radio and I really support these guys. I’ll listen too and see if they are looking for any help as well.
I stumbled upon the station when I was doing my routine tests to see if my transmitter was interfering with other stations down the dial. Found WWND and at first I thought they were Pirate and here is why. Their promo’s faded way too soon into the music. Then I heard an older gentleman say WWND Kilmarnock. Really I thought that is 6 miles from me. So I did the digging to see what was up and found this out.
I’ve only lived here since January 18th of this year and if I had been here long enough I may have found that someone was looking to put up an LPFM station that close to me and could have LEGALLY been a part of this. At least it would allow me to learn and catch up on some of rusty skills I have acquired.
What puzzles me is why was the license granted in April of 2016 and the window has been closed for sometime? Is there something we were not informed about? I might have been able to join his group and if he has other programming could have had an Album Rock segment legally going that range I wanted and it would have been Hobby Radio alright for this town.
Now I need to somehow be friends with him and most likely get more serious about AM here as to not cause any sort of interference to his station in an apartment right next to mine. I sure hope these guys have great success. Hats off to them.

Total posts : 45366The FCC can be a bit slow granting CPs, it could also be it took awhile to get the station on the air.

Total posts : 45366It looks like the orginal Construction Permit was issued 0n 9-10-2014. These are typically good for 18 months. However if you have good reasons, the CP can be extended for another 18 months. This is whaT happened. The License to Cover the CP was issues 4-12-2016. City of License is White Stone, VA. “White Stone Radio, Inc.” is the licensee.
Also depending on where you live in Deltaville, you are on the fringe as far as clock radios are concerned.

Total posts : 45366I get it pretty good. But I did notice that my FM transmitter puts some FFF onto their signal on my Grundig Radio. This is why I really need to get serious about AM now. I don’t want to hurt a station that already has to compete with the building itself.
I can see the older people here loving this station and as far as Album Rock goes I’ll bow out and go to AM. Already I have a friend working on a Ramsey AM-25 for me. I won’t say who but I am hopeing for some range.
As much as I love FM its not worth hurting someone else who also loves to broadcast and wants to serve this small town and the towns near me. Maybe I can be just as successful on AM as I am currently on FM. When the Ramsey is done probably I’ll stop FM now. But I’ll give my listeners a heads up.

Total posts : 45366Have you approached the station about airing your show maybe once a week? I see they are an oldies station but that does not mean they would not welcome your programming. They are required to air locally orginated stuff. Just an idea.

Total posts : 45366From my experience, many things start out strong, they generate lots of interest, then as personal goals change, priorities change and interests get shuffled.
That local LPFM may not be interested today, or may only be interested in a small participation from others, but a foot in the door may open to bigger things after the new wears off and they realize the amount of time it takes to keep things “live” and local.
In this day of robo stations, cutting a “air check” seems antiquated….LOL
