Total posts : 45366As of the moment there are no local AM stations operating translators in the St. Louis Missouri area.
The commercial FM band here is crammed with repeaters for howling gospel, and when I say repeating, I mean constant repitition.
QUESTION: Will space in the non-commercial FM band be open for use by commercial AMs?

Total posts : 45366Since “non-commercial” can accept $$ from commercial businesses, and only 1% of their programming has to be educational or cultural. It really doesn’t matter much anymore.

Total posts : 45366I don’t quite understand this so let me reiterate what was said here. Am I under the right belief that now AM Translators can and will often take the space from 88.1-91.9 and be able to play commercials just like any other Radio station with the pretense of being a Translator repeating the audio signal of an AM signal to FM? What gives with this? Isn’t a translator in essence just a LPFM station only thing different is the content? And if I’m right those stations can be as little as 1 Watt and as much as 100 Watts if i’m right about this.
I’d like to be enlightened on this.

Total posts : 45366The translator that moved me off of 101.5 by moving to a nearby tower and goosing up to 99 Watts is not on the air right now.
It is operating under a construction permit, so maybe they’re constructing.
I don’t need it, but it’s interesting to watch.
