Hello all,
I just joined this forum and have read most posts. Learning quit a bit! But still have more questions…
I am installing a Part 15 AM next week in North Dallas if everything arrives in the mail. I will be using a RangeMaster 1000 about 27′ connected to a 10GA 25′ to 8′ ground rod and a Inovonics 222. I was thinking about using the ZaraRadio software.
Anyway here is the question…Does Sound solution plug in work well with the Inovonics? Or do you need the Plug in at all? Is there anything better? I just thought the sound solution plug in would preform some of the functions of the Inovonics 235 and would save me some money by purchasing the 222. There is no software that will provide me with 125% pos peaks like the 222?Still Learning,
Chris

Total posts : 45366I use Zara automation and also tried Sound Solution, but I found it difficult to find good sounding settings. There was distortion added when using it and it chews up way too much of the computer’s resources. I just use Zara’s AGC into a quality equalizer and it works very well. Transmitters are the SStrans AMT3000 (which has its own built in compressor and limiter)and an EDM for FM. The sound quality exceeds what the local stations are putting out,so I never considered the thought of running a processor. Anything that alters the sound,in my opinion,is distortion! Choose your distortion carefully.Regards,Lee

Total posts : 45366I am using the 222 with a RangeMaster and Zararadio, as well as a 2 band Behringer. I found that when I use any more plug ins orZara’s AGC there is just too much distortion. I also have to run the Behringer lightly. I tried with out the Behringer and used Zara’s AGC into the 222 and got good results also.
Having played around with all of the pieces in the audio chain I found that the Behringer made my audio sound louder, but the inovonnics actually pushed the modulation higher, and that you can have too much proccessing.March 16, 2007 at 3:39 pm #15055wdcx

Good point. I read a book by Bob Orbanwho pretty much said the same.

Which part of Dallas do you live? Plano? Frisco? Or just North Dallas?

Total posts : 45366Thanks for the answers. I called Keith the other day because I am not getting a large swing in my voltage while adjusting the cap tune. He said my ground is poor and that I probably need more audio level at the transmitter. I am thinking about ordering a 3 band Behringer 802 for some eq and getting my levels up before the 222. I am getting very week audio reaching 3/4 to 1 mile away. I guess the ground does not have good conductivity right next to the foundataion. I am going to pound in 2 – 1/2″ 4′ copper rods out in the yard and run bare 12ga solid just under the surface and solder them to my first 8′ rod. Maybe this will help. Any comments??
