Not a big deal, but when I run the Zara Free version on a 64 bit operating system, some configuration settings don’t appear to get saved.
Specifically, if I change the Output to Virtual Audio Cable Line 1 as an example, Zara doesn’t appear to remember this. When the application is launched again, the correct setting is displayed, but output goes to the Windows Sound Mapper output. Each time, I have to change the setting to go to Speakers, hit OK, and then change it back to Line 1 – this works.
I thought it might be a permissions problem, but even running as Administrator doesn’t change the behavior. I looked for a configuration file for Zara, but can’t find one (at least under the Program Files (x86) directory).
This is not a big problem, obviously, but it can be annoying. Hopefully, someone else has experienced this, and knows a fix. TIA.

The Day Will Come
My old XP computer remains the server location for my Zara stream, but eventually I will be setting up a second Zara on computer No. 2 which runs Windows 7, so I’ll be able to compare notes with Artisan Radio.
I’m very optimistic that the problem will exist until then.

It will likely persist for awhile. There has been no active development on the free Zara software, while the OSs it runs on have been rewritten a number of times. And since Zara depends on the Windows Media Player for the playback engine, it can only get crazier.
I’ll see what I can find out on my system.

I Was Wondering About That
BillyBurg reminds: “And since Zara depends on the Windows Media Player for the playback engine.”
I first learned that Zara rides on WMP (Windows Media Player) from Johny RAG FM and ever since have wondered if changes could be made to WMP that would affect how Zara works.
Unfortunately the documentation with Zara 1.6.2 (FREE) says nothing about WMP.
When I try to study WMP it’s like trying to see tree roots… nothing is out in the open.

I’m still a newer Zara user and have windows 10 and find that the function of ending a track when it detects silence even though there was a few seconds left doesn’t seem to work like it says. Maybe this has something to do with what BillyBurg said.
Not a big deal though as all other features work although I never used what Artisan mentioned.
Wonder if the pay version is different.
