Had a visit with Cub Scout Den 5 here in the studio this afternoon. Their main Den Mom called about a week ago and said these guys want to get their Communications Badge.

Wonderful set!! I told them how my station operates, including remote broadcasts, answered questions (even from the Den Moms), etc. Their families tuned in.
Before they left, I showed them how to connect a mic to their Part 15 iPod FM transmitters so they could could get on the air and hear themselves on the radio from short distances.
Hey, this stuff doesn’t get better than that, at least for me (I love it when kids ‘get it’). I also told them to contact the pres. of the local HAM radio club, too. Great to see the young-uns take an interest in radio … ya never know, it might spur them onto a radio career some day.

Let’s hope their enthusiasm is guided in the right direction from this point. Young minds are like dry sponges, soaking up every bit of information coming at them..both good and bad. It’s up to people like you Ken, and the rest of us who really do care about humanity’s future, to step in when needed, and where necessary, to guide these young generations into creativity and exploration which knows no limits other than what they impose upon themselves, or let others impose upon them.
Salutes Ken!

Thanks big daddy! One thing for sure, though … Talking to the kids and watching their faces light up is its own reward. I knew that from teaching Aerospace Education to Civil Air Patrol Cadets a couple decades ago.
I forgot to mention I showed them this site as well. Hopefully we’ll see a couple of them show up here. That’d be great!!

Years ago my son told me: “Dad, I want to be a DJ when I grow up.”
I said: “Son, you can’t do both.” 🙂
