Hey Guys,
I have a Question,
will a Discone Antenna work for FM broadcasts?Hey Guys,
I have a Question,
will a Discone Antenna work for FM broadcasts?I noticed the length of the Radials are only 2.5 inches over 1/4 wave for 99.9 FM. With the Top antenna (used for 50 mhz) is about 2 inches under 1/4 wave.
I would imagine it would work fine, but need some other thoughts on this.

Total posts : 45366look it up online and see what specs are. my guess is the swrs go up in the 3 meter band.
they are really tuned for tx on the 6-1.2ghz ham bands and the gain is like 0bi and less at that.

he said hell no.So I just wound up ordering an actual 1/4 wave antenna.

Total posts : 45366It seems to me that given the wavelength matching as far as size is concerned, it should work perfectly.

(Not even 24 hours since I ordered it)
Now I’m just wondering where my new FM transmitter is. It was supposed to get here today, yet it was last reported in Florida.October 20, 2011 at 2:01 pm #22896radio8z

Total posts : 45366All I know about discones is what I have read. If I recall correctly, they work for frequencies at and above the design frequency and are wide band because of this. If this is correct then a discone cut for 50 MHz should work for FM BCB.
Since you have it and will likely try it let us know what happens.
