Total posts : 45366I have been introducing 1 per hour in to the regular mix. I will up it to two per hour by end of next week. I will also run back to back on Christmas day with new Christmas overlays/intros that I need to cut this weekend…
One close friend of mine begged me to not play “Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer” I think it cued up first!!!

Total posts : 45366I just started Holiday tunes on our LPFM, WCFI-LP.
I’m running 1 Holiday, 2 regular as a sequence.
May ramp up the Holiday tunes closer to Christmas.

Total posts : 45366Here at good ol’ KEBS we went all Christmas 6 Pm Thanksgiving eve. Well over 2,000 Christmas songs in the library, and NO rock and roll Christmas. Christmas format lasts til January 7th up here, as we have a lot of folks of the Eastern Orthodox faith, who have Christmas on January 7th due to calendar differences. I have all special Eastern Orthodox (or Serbian Christmas, if you prefer) programming for January 6 & 7th.
Virtually every business and office in town has my station on. Also ran an ad for the Christmas format in the local paper last week and this week.
As is tradition, Santa and his sleigh are lit up and displayed in the office window.
At work at the full power, we’re 2 an hour, ramping up to all Christmas starting the 19th through Christmas.

Total posts : 45366On both my part 15 and the full power I just slowly mix in the xmas tunes starting the first full week of December. None of my stations go full Christmas except for Christmas Eve night and Christmas Day until 5pm.

Total posts : 45366Since my station is for my own listening first and for anyone who MAY be listening and as myself may not celebrate Christmas, or want to here christmas all the time I may just add a few christmas songs in the mix in rock and roll style like a couple of Beach Boys things like “Little St. Nick” etc, Chuck Berry’s “Run Run Rudolph”, some songs by Darleen Love(Phil Spector Christmas album) and a couple of others that Elvis and some other rock and roll singers have done.
Although since the majority of people hate(or don’t like) winter and snow I don’t like hearing songs about it to much! After all one of my slogans is “sounding like summer all the time”
Well that’s about it for Christmas on my station.

Total posts : 45366If I was not going away for Christmas I’d start playing Rock Christmas tunes like Cheech And Chong – Santa Claus and his old lady, The Twelve Pains Of Christmas, Wreck The Malls, Bob Rivers Twisted Christmas and of course David Bowie and Bing Crosby as well as Stevie Nicks singing Silent Night. Oh and Bob Seger – Little Drummer Boy.
You can’t forget those great Christmas tracks that Album Rock stations use to play.

Total posts : 45366I can’t believe you didn’t mention George and the Destroyers doing Rock n Roll Christmas.
I’ve played this at the full power oldies station for decades now, as well as every other track you mentioned above. Doesn’t have to be an Album Rock station nowadays!

Total posts : 45366yes, I would say that VV and the V 45 is one of the best Christmas songs ever. I’ve been playing it since the day I got the promo 45 in the mail at the station back in ’89. I still play it on the air from the original 45 every season. Mine has the crazy picture sleeve with it as well. Great stuff!
