I recently heard a story of a man in our town who back before we had cable here hooked his vcr rf out to his antenna. What he did was hook the rf out to the antenna input on his booster and then ran the rf out from the booster power suply back to his antenna. He had about a 4 block range. and was very popular with the neighbors because they were able to watch movies on nights and week ends on his pirate tv station. He was never caught but did shut it down on his own. I am not telling you to start a pirate tv station and if you do try this it is in your own hands but I think this would be cool to try if you keep the signal within your own house.
The best way I think to do it is to instead of using the channel three out on a vcr use a video modulator that you can set to a unused channel far enough away from other channel to keep from any interferece on yours our your neighbors tv.March 12, 2007 at 8:54 pm #15043radio8z

For more details, read up on vestigal sideband (VSB) and ask if this type of system can do this.

Total posts : 45366There is already an existing commercial device that can send the signal from a VCR or other source to other televisions in your home that is sometimes called a “Rabbit” or “VCR Multiplying System”? Presumably the commercial units would be FCC approved, since they’ve been around for a while.
I see one over on ebay with an opening bid at the time of this writing of 3$, so apparently they aren’t hugely expensive. I don’t see much point in risking FCC violations when there is commercial gear out that could do the job at an affordable price.

This one will transmit directly to UHF tunable from channels 14 through 31, and healthy signal throughout the house. Its much less than those $99 video senders selling at radio shack.

Total posts : 45366Back in the 1980’s there was a device called TV Genie, which broadcasted directly to UHF channel 19 if I recall correctly. I assumed that that the device described above was a updated version of it.
I recall Ramsey had a kit that transmitted on channels 2 through 6 not too long ago.

Total posts : 45366The Ramsey TV transmitter is still available, it broadcasts on channels 2 through 6. It sells for $38 for the kit and for $20 more, there is a assembled and tested version.
Side Note, iI guess it would be safe to assume that those Chinese 6 watt FM transmitters that sell on E-Bay are not FCC approved.
