Like all of these little emitters, compression and limiting is essential for listenability. High end rolls off pretty fast, but it’s remarkably good considering how much is going on in a circuit roughly the size of a playing card. Stereo separation seemed good, and stability was beyond reporach.
I found this unit especially responsive to a 1/4 wave dipole, and an inverted V 5/8ths with a 90 degree included angle was spectacular, tho somewhat outside part 15, as directional antennas aren’t allowed 🙁
If you want to stay strictly within part 15 regs even to 10mW is a bit too powerful… nice problem to have.

Very good and thanks for your reply. So if someone is going to add compression and limiting, how do you do this on a budget? It seems all the hardware is alot of $$$$. If I am paying around $100 for an emitter then can I get a compressor/limiter for around the same money?Kindest Regards,

It probably doesn’t make any difference, but EDM Electronics was just fined by the FCC for selling transmitters that did not meet Part 15 standards. That particluar situation may not affect you at all, but its always good to know what’s going on at the place selling the gear.
Also, Musicians Friend in Grants Pass, Oregon sells inexpensive compressor/limiters close to the $100 price range.

Good to know! Thanks for the info on EDM Electronics. I dont know that this will be a problem for me. I am not going to use and outside antenna. I live in a historic area and dont want to take the chance. So some type of small internal antenna (Have no idea if this will work). Thanks for the info on musiciansfriend as well.Kindest Regards,

Total posts : 45366The company recently fined by the FCC for selling low power FM transmitters was Gibson Tech Ed Inc. of Orem, Utah. MY sincere apologies to EDM and anyone who may have been mislead.
I’m having my eyes tested and going to counseling to improve my memory which, for those of you who don’t know, is the second thing to go with old age. Don’t ask me what the first thing was.
