Total posts : 45366Not quite sure what you mean. But I’ve had no issues with EdCast (or Oddcast, if you want to use it on XP) standalone. You might have to use virtual cables to link it to other software.

Total posts : 45366I am looking for a way to hookup zara radio to like Broadwave or altcast without playing every some on my computer. Like if I pay a online game I do not want Broadwave or Altcast to stream these sounds to.

Total posts : 45366I’m not sure what you mean either, but if you mean the “sounds” like email alerts, key type sounds, or other windows sounds, you can disable them in windows, and it’s not a streaming software problem.

Total posts : 45366I replied before I saw your clarrication. My guess is that you would need a seperate soundcard.. however, I’m not familiar enough with streaming to know, maybe this is a way to send just your zara output indipendantly to the web.. I be interested to hear the answer to that.

Total posts : 45366Never mind I got Zara Radio 1.4.4 to work with Shoutcast plugin and Upatetitle2 to list current track playing. Before I was using Radioboss I dumped it after 3 days it drops audio volume to almost noththing. Only way to fix it is reset the program thisreally annoying resetting the program every 3 days.

Total posts : 45366We have been using RadiBoss 24/7 on our LPFM with NO problems. Maybe the real reason is that you have to PAY for the RadioBoss software and you get Zara for FREE?

Total posts : 45366My initial post will solve your problem. Using a virtual cable directly links Zara to your encoding software.

Total posts : 45366Or just disable windows sounds. (Which really needs to be done on any automation playback computer anyways)

Total posts : 45366Windows sounds get mapped to your standard output. That’s why outputing to a virtual cable works for this particular instance – only stuff output specifically to it will be there.

Total posts : 45366I stream (usually) NOAA Weather Radio from Jackson Ky using a Weatherband radio with an audio cord running from the radio’s headphone output to the Line Input on my PC which is then encoded to the icecast servers at Broadcastify.com (radioreference.com).
I have never had a problem with B.U.T.T. since it can point to a specific input or output from the sound card in the PC. And yes, my pc only has one sound card. I have played Minecraft on a server with friends and listened to the stream with no sounds from the game mixed in with NOAA Weather.
Right now the only issue i have had is convincing my ISP that our internet service has been crap. They insist it is working……….
My feed at Broadcastify.

Total posts : 45366Have been using Zararadio 1.4.4 it is just pure junk I can even get it to work any more. It takes 45 to 90 min to load a larger playlist winamp will load the same playlist in 5 seconds and it crashes every 36 hrs. I tired 1.6.2 I can not get it to play audio through virtual audio cables to Butt and it will not show current track title even with Updatetitle2 still does not show current track title. I need to find another program that is like Zararadio and Radioboss that works with shoutcast what do you recommend??

Total posts : 45366Zara shouldn’t be giving you any trouble, what are you trying to run it on? I’ve ran Zara on a Windows 98 machine on 128MB of Ram with a 1000+ song playlist with no issues whatsoever. I’ve also had success running it on XP and 7 with 1000+ song playlist plus a jam-packed event builder. I was running 1.6 and 1.6.1 forever before updating to 1.6.2 and still haven’t run into any trouble. I haven’t used an older version than 1.6 but I’d assume 1.4.4 wouldn’t be as stable as the newer builds.
For your sake I’d grab a cheap older SoundBlaster card, I’ve got a SoundBlaster from the 90s running KDSX on Windows 7. I noticed a dramatic increase in audio quality compared to the on-board sound drivers, plus it solved my hum issue and now I have the benifit of 2 sound ouputs.
Also make sure the computer you are using for on-air playback is not being used for anything else or by anything else, the more crap you have running the worse it will be. I’d also recommend running the Task Manager to make sure your CPU isn’t being gobbled up by some application or background process.
Zara can extremely stable, I don’t think I’ve restarted the Automation PC or Zara since sometime in 2016.

Total posts : 45366I’ve used both 1.4 and 1.6 extensively on a variety of different computers, most of them older desktops and laptops for years. Mostly on Windows 98, XP, and having rather limitted proccesing power and ram. One of the things I love most about Zara is that it has always ran flawlessly on anything! With huge playlist for weeks or longer at a time without a reboot.. I can’t recall ever having a problem, at least nothing major.
What version of Windows you using?
I don’t think Zara is the problem, but you might wan’t to look into radiodj.. it’s free and looks nice, but I had only toyed with it briefly a few years ago, so I can’t really say much about it.
