My first ever 2 meter handitalkie –
something called a Standard C-118 –
came from AES.
It was 1979. The Standard C-118 was
a 6 channel crystal controlled handi-talkie.
I ran around with it EVERYWHERE.
It cost $313.00.
A beautiful radio for what it was.

Total posts : 45366I wonder if it is due to economy or internal changes/priorities. I have bought things from them over the years. I can’t imagine the overhead they have/had and with the price of products lowering, I am sure the margins have fallen also.
There are days that I wish I had either stayed retired or still worked for someone else. Running a business these days is often not worth the trouble. I keep trying to tell myself I do it mostly for the fun! Right!

Total posts : 45366Too bad they can’t continue as an “online” supplier. Get rid of the brick-and-mortar store front and continue as an online store as they already have a presence there.
I think a lot of the probem is simple economics. More people would engage and stay with amateur radio if the prices weren’t so outrageous. Granted the products are fantastic but how about a low cost “simple” line of radio gear.
If the prices are competitive it could work.
Works for Amazon…
