How many here would be interested in being part of a more or less formal trade association dedicated to the interests of low power and micro broadcasting?

The purpose of this would not be to supplant what goes on here, rather, it would create an entity to represent the collective interests to the public, the relevant governing bodies, and coordinate our efforts in that regard.
The LPAM people have drifted a bit, and are, of course, interested in a trade association for this purpose. This is not a site for LPAM, really, so I only wanted to mention in passing, that many are interested in having you, the part 15 types, join as well. You have many common interests.
Individually, we all have a voice, but when we speak collectively, we’re louder. And perhaps more importantly, an association that at least formally represents us, presents good opportunity for two way communication… Not just us to the FCC, for instance, but also from the FCC to us.
I have been part of a trade association that was newly formed to lobby for some related part 15 and internet services issues with the FCC and other governmental bodies. I can tell you, that you get MUCH farther much faster and get much better heard as a formal group.
I am not here to promote LPAM or lobby for anything in that regard, I just found that there are many synergistic reasons we should form a group outside of the existing sites and groups for a well forcused purpose.
If you’re interested, just post “hey yeah, sounds interesting” and if I can get enough positive responses, I’ll leave you a URL to jump to, so as to keep the off topic stuff to a minimum here.
Edit: The URL is: http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/lpacbgroup/
Thanks
Mark
