I’m pretty sure I posted about the resolution to my range problem some time ago. It was ground moisture.
Being in NM, it is usually pretty dry around here. I put the system up in March, which means Spring rains (very little, compared to elsewhere). We had some unusual, early rain in May-June, which improved things. Now, in July- August, we get the normal “monsoons” (again, not much compared to elsewhere). I imagine that in the Fall and Winter, things will deteriorate again.
I got the following figures for Las Cruces, NM from some web site: Average Annual Precipitation = 8.5 inches of rain, 3.2 inches of snow (I think the snow figure is greatly inflated).
