My dad and I had an understanding. I
could have as many working and junk
radios as I wanted in the house, as long
as he got to grumble that they were pretty
useless and stupid and would do me no good.
He was trimming the hedges one day, and
I was there talking to him. Then he took the
clippers and reached up and cut apart one side of my
40 meter dipole. I knew that he knew that I
would have it back up in a half hour. And I did.
It was an understanding between my dad and I –
and it was based on a humorous set of strange
goofy rules.
A man of few words and great accomplishments,
I was and still am very proud of him.
