Knowing that the FCC felt that low power FM stations wasn’t an effective use of the airwaves in the past is good information.
But instead of wringing our hands and crying out that low power FM is going to be forever dead because of that, let’s find a solution that WILL be an effective use of the airwaves. Perhaps something similar to the New Zealand model, where one or two channels are set aside specifically for unlicensed low power FM (and they’re allowed to have a watt ERP!). Perhaps 87.9 and 87.7? Or something similar?
