Here’s a hint that you might be interested in. I worked for a company that did P.C. board production and they used PVC piping and valves. While the system was being developed, they wanted to be able to easily change things and since the lines were low pressure they did this:
Assemble the pipes and fittings and put the glue around the outside of the junctions. Enough will seep in to hold the connections and make them waterproof yet a firm twist will separate them and they can be changed or reconnected this way. This trick will allow you to take things apart if you need to.
Your tape method is fine but I thought you would like to consider this semi-permanent method once you are satisfied with the antenna.
