I did the demo at the Kutztown DVHRC swap meet on Saturday at at 4 PM (http://www.renningers.com/kutzradio.htm). I don’t know how good my presentation was :-), but the AMT5000 performed flawlessly. The frequency was set to 1380 kHz. We had a multi CD changer feeding it, and received it on a vintage Harmon Kardon receiver feeding Hi-Fi speakers. We were able to eliminate initial receiver overloading by adjusting the position of the ferrite bar antenna on the back of the receiver.
The pavilions at Renningers Market have the AC wiring distributed along the overhead wood beams and nowhere to connect to ground. The AMT5000 produced a strong hum free signal over both pavilions and everywhere in the big parking lot in front. I had the 10 ft wire antenna running vertical up from the table to one overhead wood beam. I just dangled the ground wire down to the floor because there was nowhere to connect it. The outlet strip didn’t have any ground screws and the actual outlet was about 30 ft away. Since the signal was strong and hum free, I just left it that way. It was neat to walk around the pavilion and hear it on a antique and vintage radios at the various vendor’s tables.
Preparing for the demo consumed a fair amount of time over the last two weeks. Now I can devote my available time to the manual and web site.
