I mistakenly called it a comet in my post. (Up at 5am typing the thread). I meant to say that it is an asteroid as opposed to a comet. Anyway, with comets we can usually discern their returns and their orbits ala, Haley’s, Kahoutek etc. Asteroids are a different issue altogether. They are the rogues of space and do not follow an elliptical orbit. Wishing it were a comet…
(Special aside) In the past month we’ve had two satellites fall back to earth. No one was hurt, right? They have been reportedly bombarding the asteroid with radio wave signals to assess its size, measurements, rate of speed and etc. Right now, this asteroid is believed to be the size of an aircraft carrier and it has been alleged that it will pass between the earth and moon on the 8th of the next week according to NASA.
NASA… Noted researcher, Dr. Richard Hoagland playfully suggests the acronym stands for (Never.A.Straight.Answer). We’ll see.
