Actually, Liberty/Crow/Whoever 🙂 There’s NOTHING Illegal as far as the FCC goes about not using call letters on a part 15, or heck even using someone elses’ call letters. At least that’s what the FCC told me. Granted you may get a C&D from someone if you use their call letters and try to run your own station. But I don’t believe the letters you were using were used elsewhere. (??) Simply that whoever this was who turned you in, claimed (rightly or wrongly so) that they heard something, and thus the FCC had to go investigate. For all I know, whoever it was could have made it up.
As for Carl and your comments, the FCC agent in the local office here is the one who told me about the parental unit’s involvement. No cloak and dagger. I have no reason to make anything up. I just don’t want everyone freaking out and blowing things out of proportion for a story that ends up like an old wives’ tale or something. That’s the only reason I chimed in. Take it or leave it. Your choice 🙂
