Recently, Mark (fearless Moderator here on the Forum) did some heavy lifting and managed to obtain some Talking Sign transmitters. I was lucky enough to become the recipient of one. Thanks Mark. These transmitters are unique in that they are one of the few Canadian certified AM transmitters under RSS210. And, as Mark has pointed out, they were certified at a time when more output power was allowed here. My previous experiences with the Talking Sign were very positive, and I managed to obtain better range than the ProCaster and even the Rangemaster. I never did understand that result at the time, but this explains it.
I plan on using the Talking Sign to run another Artisan Radio SDR steam with different programming than on FM - exactly how I will split it is still under consideration. I'm thinking that OTR and Vintage Jazz will run on the Talking Sign, with the various music shows and Oldies running on FM. That's all entirely due to source sound quality. Stay tuned for that.
I will be attempting to maximize the over-the-air signal of the Talking Sign as well, but don't hold out any great hopes for that, as I live in a heavily built up (concrete) area. You never really know, though, until you try. That's the great thing about Part 15 broadcasting.
Anyway, I've also decided to shelve any further OpenWebRX+ installs under Windows - the environment is just too fragile and error prone. I will keep the current FM stream going with that environment, and I will be adding the AM stream, running OpenWebRX+ under Linux (it's originally intended O/S). I will be using the recently purchased SDRPlay for this new steam.
There's always something new going on in the Artisan Radio studios.
If you can get the 3 meter wire outside a window hanging down or just around a large living room window taped on to the glass should get good results.
I've made about 30 station promos for AM 1630 from Imagingthing.com and this time with frequency mentioned as with AM on 1630 no new station will ever go there and anywhere I am that will be empty.
Have to make new posters for the community mail box for 1630 AM
Haven't switched over yet.
@mark I'm not familiar with imagething.com. I just went to it on my phone and received the following pop-up window:
Imaging Thing says...
Sadly, this site isn't so good on mobile devices. It's like a movie that you have to see in a theater, rather than on your TV.
The site is also more full featured when you use a desktop or laptop.
Thank you
@richpowers It's only on a PC. https://imagingthing.com/#/
Great for making jingles for your station with fake generated listeners comments and a choice of voices. Select slogans and music promos from the genera of your format.
$2.00 per jingle. They then at checkout download to your computer in MP3 files. You put in the info and it generates a jingle at random and if you don't like it trash it and do it again. Never does the same thing twice and keep the ones you like. Other settings to custom how the jingles come out.
@mark I understand that, I just thought what it said in the pop-up was cute. I just now checked out your jingles your posted Promos.
Very cool and a great bargain at $2 each.
You probably saw my post yesterday about another AI music/singer engine: Https://www.part15.org/community/regulations-law/broadcasting-legally-beyond-200ft/#post-576 3" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Broadcasting legally
I don't know if it's as useful for your purposes or not but it's only $9 a month for unlimited creations.
I tried 3 times to correct that link above.. it supposed to be https://www.part15.org/community/regulations-law/broadcasting-legally-beyond-200ft/
