@artisan-radio You said "... if a device has been certified, them the fcc accepts it as being compliant. the rules state that it is the manufacturer that is responsible, not the end user.  look it up..."

Uh.. yeah, but for the sake of clarification it also clearly says it is the users responsibility to insure their install is compliant.

As for HB, it has a lot going for it but has a tendency of undermining itself repeatedly with invalid information, and if you point out why some particular point being made is invalid, Bill will within minutes edit or or deleate your post entirely to insure it doesn't see the light of day (not on his site, he cant be wrong). Also Bill does most definitely read our forums daily without fail... or at least he used too.

just read one of the most hypocritical and self serving posts over at HB...and thats saying a lot. it starts off with long ground leads, and ends with fm compliance.

Sure wish I could read it.  I ...

You can still read initial post without being a member. The thread Artisian was referring to is https://www.hobbybroadcaster.net/community/index.php?topic=19087.msg82507;topicseen#msg82507

And he obviously was playing off our recent comments here when he said:

"I do not pity anyone who screws around with this one and feels the wrath of the commission. I've hear of and have seen people who peel back the label on C. Crane's FM transmitter to adjust the power level of the device (which has been set at the factory for Part 15 compliant operation). The access hole is only available while the device is in production, and then that access is blocked by the device's certification label.

Thank you very much for your incredible insight Bill, but it's already been pointed out here. What would we do without you.

Talking of the C Crane transmitter, although I now have two Decade MS-100's, I'm a little curious about the C Crane, merely to compare the range. I don't think one can get much better than the Decade transmitter for Part 15 FM though. However, I do wish that it came with an option for a weatherproof enclosure. Can't have everything we want, I suppose!
