Thanks Jim for linking to Patrick Ryan.

I'm still hoping he'll answer my e-mail sent earlier today.

He offers a few other part 15 transmitters including a tube model.

Don't let Snobby Dude find this out or he'll tear that down too!!

Maybe this site should have an Elite section so we can talk about assembled transmitters where pretend Radio Police can't troll and start a mess for us "Handicapped people" who can't see or may have other disabilities stopping them from making their own transmitter.  Maybe a discrimination lawsuit from the National Federation of the Blind is in order for Mr. Snobby.  Yes I'll be sending some E-Mails to some of my Blind Radio friends who just Love Lawsuits.

As for more information to free up the false info on this subject!!

A well respected Radio Engineer for NRR has this to say as he has done his homework and research as to a statement that was false earlier and wants to clarify it.  Here is the link:

http://the-initiative.boards.net/thread/159/ssm2166-micpreamp-variable-compression-noise

Happy Trails.

Geeze legacy what a way to derail yet another thread with nonsense, everyone knows about Pat Ryan and his operation has been discussed in depth on nearly every part 15 board ever.

As for Druid Hills/WDCX's Question, its Station8 aka "Operator".

Its not nonsense because some Electronics parts companies were passing miss information saying the part was Discontinued  When it actually was Replaced with a chip that is Lead FREE.

Yes they Discontunued the S series but you'll hear more from this Respected Radio Engineer.  Some of us at NRR do actual reasearch before passing Information because we Ourselves learned this valuable lesson.

You can actually put a good company out of business passing false information.  We at NRR believe in keeping this hobby alive and this means trying to find out why a company is not acception orders but at the same time not just guess.

Happy Trails!

I was referring to the first half of your previous comment about hiding Pat.

I was previously unaware of the events concerning the second half.

TheLegacy has creative ideas sometimes but...

TheLegacy said:  "IF there is something you don't understand about the comment ASK on OUR SITE!!"

I'm out of line saying this because it is really up to the moderators but I wouldn't think that it would be out of line to answer ON THIS THREAD when responding to comments made ON THIS THREAD.

I think part of the confusion is that you (TheLegacy) have been talking about the people at hobbybroadcaster website and  some members on this website think you're talking about Patrick Ryan who sells AMT3000 and AMT5000 transmitters.

The discoveries about the integrated circuit chip are interesting, although I don't find the place where it was originally brought up on this thread... I think you guys have been responding to something someone else said on a different website?

Nobody here has said there was a "discontinued chip" thus explaining why SSTran is closing down. Your highly regarded Engineer is barking another tree.

Color me confused because I guess I have no idea what or who Legacy is talking about. I assumed he was responding to your comment Carl about Pat Ryan.

From what I gathered he had been talking about Pat Ryan's transmitters and the need to keep quiet about it so the "Radio Police" don't find out. (And that it was harrassing the blind or something) Then came the 2nd half which I knew nothing about so I had no comment for.

The ALPB holds seminars to aid members to improve their skills, and what I see here is a chance to plan a seminar on thread communication to get ideas across with clarity without ballistics.

For now this is a thread about the closing of SSTran which has nothing to do with a discontinued chip.

Hi All: let's see if I can help you guys out.

1) let Phil b.From sstran get on his site to tell people what

Is really going on before guessing and passing information out!!!!!!!

Note: ( which I notice some of you guys did!!!!)

2) I think a lot of you guys are getting confused what was said

About the ssm2166 ic chip on the other site.

3) you need to go back and read it if you don't understand

Reread it or get someone to explain for you better.

4)the answer was right in front of you and you boch it

About the ssm2166.

5) informing you about the chip was to help you out

NOT start a mass confusion.

Just so you know I worked in electronic industries field of 14 + years

And I did wave soldering, cutting PCB boards, stuff boards,

Mechanical assemble,shipping,working with engineers,v.p and

President of the company, worked in repair, worked in

Parts department, ordering dept,I also know how toLook for obsolete componets as well.

I also did machinery work as well.

So you guys can't tell me I don't know what Im doing.

Happy trails I hope this helps

Actually, there was no confusion until information from other sites was introduced into the thread.

What it boils down to is that SSTran is no more, we don't know why and likely won't know why unless they decide to enlighten us on their web site.

A discussion of potential alternative kits (if any) would probably be useful at this point, but maybe in a separate thread.

Howdy all: Where you said sstran is no more.

How do you know he is NO more, do you know something that the

Rest of use don't know?.

I do NOT think this comment should be made without actual proof

Or phil b told you to pass the message out.

Note: Do to it will damage his company if you guys are wrong!.

Let Phil B. Come out and say what's going on with his company

I rather hear it from the person own words.

There could be so many reasons why we haven't heard from

Phil be let's give him some time.

Examples sick, busy, holidays, part supply problems, medical god forbid,

Help problems, etc.

There so many things I could mention but I won't.

Phil B. Of sstran please let us know what's going on!.

This is not to bust on anyone, just to find out what is the

Delay to no response and the outcome of sstran business.

Happy trails

Sorry Folks but this thread is going nowhere in terms of factual information beyond what is on the SSTRAN site.  As Station8 remarked, such speculation can harm SSTRAN.  Let's suspend the speculation until PhilB speaks to the questions.
