So - I bought this sean cuthbert c-quam transmitter.. and I want to do a gound mounted outdoor setup.
I am thinking of buying the weatherproof box from home depot - its 8x8x4 ; and a length of copper pipe.. I want to stick the pipe in a bit of PVC and make it kind of hidden..
Has anyone done a setup like this at all? Care to share? I'd like to see photos and stuff.
Unfortunately, no photos, but I've done something similar.
The trick is to ensure that some moisture can escape the box, preferably from the cable inserts in the bottom (otherwise, moisture, created from changes in temperature outside, gets trapped and eventually causes problems).
i never trusted those things to generate a proper cquam signal (very low parts count for cquam work) let us know how it works.
Ok - my initial thought was to seal it; but I should have some kind of venting underneath. I will include that in the design - no sealing the cable insert holes.

I am actually not after the c-quam; im after the higher power (closer to a full 100mW) at the final.
Ok. So I think I managed to get this figured out. I soldered some wires onto the board, ran those to a terminal block,and from there I’ll connect my long run of cat6 or whatever I have a bulk spool of.
Ditto the remark about not seaing the enclosure. I sealed mine and as far as I can determine water wicked into the enclosure through the jacketed 4 conductor signal/power line and after one season there was about a quarter of an inch in the enclosure.
If you use a weep hole in the bottom of the box then consider that insects may use this as an entry to nest. This has happened to two other boxes here which were used for outdoor lighting power distribution and resulted in a tripped GFCI because ants nested in the boxes. Maybe gluing a fine mesh screen over the hole is the answer.

I drilled a small hole - I don't know what bugs we have out here ; moved yet again. But the update is :
Today my youngest (15yrs) helped me build a new desk - nothing crazy this time , just a board with a hole so we can mount the mixer.
We put the AM up on a pole and connected to a 9.81' "blue" copper pipe as an antenna.
Tomorrow the PLAN is to run some cabling from garage to transmitter. And I'll use one of the AV senderreceiver things to get audio to it from the "studio
