When I purchased an EDM last year, it was shipped from California and arrived via Priority Mail much quicker than I expected.

My bet is you'll have it much sooner than you expect. I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly it arrived.

Worth noting that Priority Mail includes, at no additional charge, some insurance and tracking.

So they should have been able to supply you with the tracking number, assuming they send them all out via Priority Mail in the USA.

Interesting that they charge $10 for insurance -- in reality it costs about half that. And it states "No tracking information"  when tracking is included with priority mail at no cost.

They may have set up their shipping protocol back when tracking cost additional, and insurance wasn't automatically included on Priority Mail, or maybe they've gone to another way to ship since last year.

Anyway, my guess is you'll have it before the end of the week.

Mine came from La Jolla, CA. It was packed in a small flat rate Priority Mail box, which was then placed in a Priority Mail envelope. It arrived 10 days after I ordered it via, needless to say, Priority Mail.

Audio quality is good, with no discernible hum. I didn't hear any spurious emissions on any other frequencies in the band either. They must have cleared those problems up, ArtisanRadio. As Bill over at HB, and Tim, have both said, you'll need to take precautions to ensure that the transmitted field strength is within the allowed limit.

At 6:42 PM CDT this evening it will be 3-days since placing the order for the EDM FM Transmitter, so I guess I'll start counting.

The 9th day will be next Saturday, and I doubt there's mail delivery on Sunday (10th day) and surely not on Monday Labor Day (11th day).

If it doesn't arrive Tuesday September 5th (12th day) I should probably lose my apettite, become insomniac, and drive eratically.

But at least I don't have to clear the space where it will be installed for over a week.

Now 7 days since ordering the EDM FM transmitter, we have set up a MAIL WATCH to watch for postal workers and vehicles in the area.

Today finally we will clear the several square inches where the transmitter will be placed.

We'll start by using their included test wire antenna with the power set at minimum.

Stay near your computer so you will be among the first to know.

This is Day 9 in our wait for delivery of an EDM FM Transmitter, now come two non-delivery days, Sunday and Monday the Holiday.

A nice little location has been arranged for the new transmitter when it arrives.

Today is Day 12 since ordering an EDM FM Transmitter, but no delivery.

So we clicked onto the EDM website and read what they actually promise:

"Please allow at least 12 working days for delivery."

Who is working? The postal service or the EDM office hours?

Anyway, counting postal working days, minus Labor Day, today is Day 9.

We also noticed another EDM offer: For $20 they will expedite the order.

Oh, that's o.k. We have seven FM transmitters to keep us going until the big day.

You'll get this week! That damn holiday weekend!! Took a day longer because of that.

The wait is the hardest thing. Hope they sent from California, not South Africa.

In one EDM review South Africa was mentioned as the country of origin.

But elsewhere I read that EDM FM transmitters come from South America.

Either way, I'm concerned that Trump might have it deported.

Mark called it right. At just before 6 PM CDT the neatly bound package spent a minute in the mailbox and within the next hour the "kit" was built and is now on the air for carrier tests.

It's a super quiet carrier, as was discovered in each of the reviews we've seen.

Next step is get it installed in its permanent location where it will share an audio feed with the AMT5000.

Audio test are scheduled next.

The little screw audio adjustment slots were set at full counterclockwise so that I could bring the audio up from zero to a proper level, but what really happened was that the audio came blasting on at 2000% modulation!

Well, no wonder. From the outside-of-the-case perspective the audio controls are minimized when set fully clockwise! I didn't notice anything about that anywhere in the reviews or the instructions, but we recovered quickly and set the level to what sounded "just about right", but I didn't believe it, so we set up an intricate test procedure as follows:

EDM transmitter off, Ramsey FM30b Transmitter on.

The modulation indicator on the LCD screen of the Ramsey gives a very precise modulation setting so I sent my 333 Hz tone through it and sent the received signal from a C.Crane Radio into the Orban Loudness Meter V 2.0.8, establishing a reference of 0 dB on the VU meter.

Then we switched transmitters and saw that the EDM was sending the same tone at +2 dB, which we trimmed, a little at a time, until it matched the Ramsey.

Now the transmitters are matched as to audio level.

The RF level of the EDM will later be matched to the other FM transmitters, which corresponds to somewhere near 15.239.

The transmitter site for the Ramsey FM30b Transmitter is the front south facing executive desk standing 30" from the floor. The vertical whip antenna is 28" fully extended.

Transmitter site for the EDM-LCD-CS-EP Transmitter is on a planter shelf extended from a window-sill 20" from the floor. The vertical "test wire" (as included) is 60", stretched vertically upward and taped to a wooden planter shelf.

The two locations are 59.5' apart.

Despite not being superstitious, two weird readings took place involving either the spectrum analyzer or the dBu field strength numbers seen on the TECSUN PL-310 receiver.

First with the Ramsey. There are 8 bars that appear on the LCD as the power is raised or lowered. I started with it set for 1-bar, and then tried lowering the power so there were no bars. The power was higher at the lowest setting than it was with 1 visible bar.

Meanwhile the EDM was showing 15 dBm on the spectrum analyzer, but minutes later doubled to 30 dBm all by itself. Well, not exactly... the tape had come loose and the "test wire" antenna was drooping down onto the floor. It put out a stronger signal with the antenna on the floor.

If these are paranormal events I wonder if they contain a message.

Carl once again shows us that he is a secret broadcast engineer. Secret broadcast engineers know how to improvise. Kuddos!

As reported we obtained a Decade GP32 Indoor FM Antenna and finally got it mounted up on the wall between the top of a window frame and door.

With the EDM Transmitter at lowest power the housewide coverage is excellent, even though we can see the dBu field strength reading on the radio go up and down as we move around, there are no dropouts and no multipathing!

As of this date the Decade GP32 is the Official FM Antenna of KDX Worldround Radio!

How does the signal perform outdoors?

Tomorrow wee shall see.
