I noticed during this economic fiasco looming at midnight March 1-2, 2013 (tonight), our nation's leaders are faced with several supposed "tough" decisions to make. On one hand, you have the FCC (who alleges they are funding their almost 2000 employees with fines/fees), yet their budget "proposal" (request) is to the tune of 350 million? Who is telling the truth? Does the FCC actually cost the US taxpayer any money, or are they independently "wealthy?" What do they actually spend this money on? I mean, assuming median income of their employees is $50,000...that leaves about 340 million a year for...? Or, it would allow all 2000 employees to make in excess of $100,000 each, leaving $150,000,000 left to spend...can anyone answer this for me?
The question asked by AMradiomnan is a very good question in light of the large money figures being discussed.
It would be reasonable to expect a published audit to explain what is going on.
Here we are tip-toing around with our tiny bit of RF real estate, while meanwhile the overlords are swimming in gold.
The licensed radio industry is no accomplishment to brag about, so indeed, what do they do?
IF they were paid $50,000 each that would leave $240 million to spend, not 340 million...I didn't preview before I presses "save." My apologies, still a lot of money...
And then there are the matching fees and benefits that don't show up in the paycheck. So the salary may be $50k but you'd have to add a bit more for the benefits and retirement.
Even so, that leaves a lot of dough to move around...
Hand the torch to the hammys and it would get done right and possibly for free!
