I know there's a link to it in some post here somewhere, cause I previously saw it.. But now can't find it. What is the current web address to the ALPB?

On a related note (which I recently already mentioned)..
From my own experience, the following is the best deal:
1. If you haven't already done so, register the domain through www.1and1.com/domain for 9.99 a year. (sometimes you can get the first year for only $4.99 or less)
2. Host the site www.000webhost.com for Free (no pop-ups, no ads, or other annoyances).
I've used them both for years on my own and other sites I've built, and have never experienced a problem.
Just a suggestion.
But back to my original question..
What is the present ALPB webpage link?
The "test page" location was not disclosed as we did not want confusion resulting from different URL's floating around.
Johny C duplicated the "test page" on his host site and when the final domain name is obtained it will go public.
Perhaps Lefty will have the domain name lined up by the next ALPB meeting.
The "test page" is at THIS LOCATION. The banner ads of the free host are not desirable and the members decided to find a better solution which Johny C of Rag-FM has provided.
Oh for the love of all that is radio do NOT use 1and1.
I had them, I do NOT recommend them.
You just try and get that DNS to change.
Not gunna happen.
Don't know why you say that. I've got 3 separate domains with them pointing to 3 different websites hosted free at 000webhost for the last couple years now.
Never a headache or a problem.
Never had to contact tech support.
Never went down.
One is poshposy.net, a florist (which she depends on greatly, and sells a lot of flowers and host numerous weddings from...
The other two are my own site at end80radio.com, and then nickies1971.com
Everything has always worked like clockwork
Rich - what would it cost to have a co-located server ... just use their hi-speed wire and our own dedicated server? IOW, we be our own host.
Ken, That usually entails actually providing your own equipment and have it physically set up at the servers location, and in general that service cost more than what any normal web service provider would charge.
Not only that, but any upgrades or maintenance to your system would be your responsibility - not theirs.
Years ago we (DeVivo Marketing) had looked into doing that for tybeeisland.com (which I had personally built about 80% of over the years), but in the end we opted against it because it just wasn't cost effective - nor was it really needed. Even with so many individual sites, it still made more sense to have them hosted individually. One little thing go wrong, and everything could feasibly go down at once.. and someone would have to actually drive to the server location and fix it themselves.
Web hosing providers has gotten to be so cheap, and any hassles are their responsibility.
Co-located servers are really geared for large companies and such, and probably overkill for ALPB.
I still believe the best bet is just buy a domain name for $10 a year, park it at either a pay-for hosting provider, or at free host without ads (as I suggested previously)
Either way, the cost and hassles would be minimum
Yes, I suppose I was thinking more in terms of setting one up here ... just trying to get an idea. Since my host;s servers went sown in NY, I've been looking into the options, on of which is to connect to local HS wire with my own server and Apache handlers, then at least I'd have it under my control.
The local power co., OPALCO is working towards construction of wideband through their underground and above ground wires, from which providers can set up multiple towers, if they choose to do so, and can give us island-wide coverage for the first time.
000webhost.com does not indicate bandwidth. When I'm broadcasting an away (off-island) game live, I could have 100 or more listeners online, so bandwidth is an issue. I guess I'll check it out. As I mentioned, it would appear to be able to handle things as backup, but it would mean an additional site to have to update.
I used to use CLEAR, which is how I connect wirelessly to the Internet from anywhere I can get a signal is not interested in hosting.
Hi ALPBers, I know I haven't made the latest ALPB meetings, however, If everyone doesn't know, I am more than happy to host the new ALPB website on my servers. I use an incredible host, with amazing support, everything uses industry standard WHM/Cpanel so it is easy to move between hosts if need be etc etc.
If ALPB would like to start there, let me know and I will setup the account and send the appropriate person the account information. I am also more than happy to help with the technical aspects of setting up, running the site and managing the site - all of which I hope I have been clear about in the past. Just let me know 🙂
Cheers!

As a member of the ALPB I hereby submit my absentee ballot in favor of Mr. Janze's terrific offer.
I strongly believe it is in the best interest of ALPB and part15.us to work closely together in every way possible.
My name is Blare and I approve this message.
It is always a breath of fresh air to see someone so willing to help others.
I will notify the ALPB members of this offer. I'm sure they, as I, will be pleased.
Jon Paul
Thanks very much for your offer to host the ALPB site.
Hi Ken. I have my own server(s).
Bandwidth is an issue - if you have upwards of 100 simultaneous listeners, multiply that by your stream bandwidth, add a bit for overhead and that will give you what you need in terms of upload bandwidth. Upload speeds are always problematic, and are usually much less than download speeds.
And you need to find out from your ISP what their policy is on running a server (some require a certain level of service i.e. cost).
