Did anyone else notice a problem with Weather Watcher Live as of late?

About a couple weeks ago I noticed my automated temperature announcements remained unchanged.  ZaraRadio has the ability to insert time/temperature announcements automatically.  ZaraRadio works in concert with Weather Watcher Live to do this.  Weather Watcher Live updates a local file to supply ZaraRadio with current weather info.  Weather Watcher Live obtains that info from the Weather Bug site.

Weather Bug was up.  Weather Watcher Live was displaying current info correctly but not updating the local info file.  Weather Watcher Live would display an error message when trying to update the local info file saying Weather Bug was not available even though everything else appeared normal.

Trying different versions of the FREE Weather Watcher Live also failed.  So, falling back to a very early version called Weather Watcher (lacks the detailed pop-up from the status bar) seemed to work just fine.

So, the short story is drop back to Weather Watcher from Weather Watcher Live and I'm back in business...

I will change the links on my MRAM 1500 ZaraRadio page to make the older version available.

Yeah about 2 years ago that program stopped working for me also.
I have had to read weather or record snippets of NOAA WX.

I miss PirateWeather.com

Weather Watcher Live still provides current data on screen it just doesn't seem to export the data to a file anymore.  It errors saying it can't connect to WeatherBug.com when in fact that is where its current display information comes from.

The older Weather Watcher handles exporting the data just fine.  ZaraRadio is able to provide the temperature/humidity updates from the exported data.

Did you try the older version?  It's available for down load at my MRAM 1500 ZARA PAGE.

Yes, for quite some time now.  But, the older versions still work.

I was using version 6.0 last week when this started happening.  I contacted Mike and he told me that weather bug changed the way data was parsed to his server and told me the old version may no longer work/stop working as he is not supporting those versions any longer.  I am using the demo version 7.? right now.  I did find that on another computer the older version started working again so I may switch back over to that version at least until I can get my own weather station online to provide my own data.

So far, ver. 5.6.6 is able to import and export the parsed data to ZaraRadio.

Like the old saying goes, "If it ain't broke-don't fix it."

I guess the updates are a marketing concept to generate new interest.  I can think of several  "new and improved" items I wished had been left as they were.

Something about "old dogs-new tricks".
