Non profit's are less then that, often a flat rate. I pay a flat rate to SOCAN which is quite reasonable and affordable. I think from what I have seen with some of these US licensing "middlemen" that they are paying 2-3 times what I am. No doubt that's how the middlemen make money.
It's a hobby and SOCAN understands this. Kinda cool.
