Carl I think I doubled with you as I was posting the same time you were and I didn't see your post till I made mine. Yes the idea of Community Radio Service is a bad thing to promise. There is nothing wrong with making community announcements as a hobby broadcaster, but to make it a requirement will kill the fun and affordability of these FM Transmitters. All purpose would be the way we need to keep it as we don't need anyone telling us we can't play music on these transmitters. We also forgot Christmas. Many folks were disappointed only to find out that the people down the street could not hear their audio on their car Radio's because again their driveway was too long and their house was large and the person at the end of the line of cars could not pick up the station playing the audio for the light show. I think we could get the Christmas folks into the petition for more field strength. I think we sort of went off on the wrong direction when we only thought Radio Station and community Radio station. We should however have some sort of deal where if a neighbor wants to use your frequency for a special event that we allow them to do so. I know say if someone wanted to do a Christmas light show I'd be more than glad to not transmit during that time or maybe if I could trust them let them use My transmitter or pipe in their stream to my transmitter via the Internet. Any other ideas for a sort of all purpose type enhancement that would still allow us to run a station, but has the benefit of other uses as well. I still want the forced frequency scan for all new certified FM transmitters.
