This weekend (Halloween 2014)
these guys are
going to have several stations
on the air just below the
AM BCB. This won't be AM - but
it will be very interesting. It will
be digital modes and cw.
There are quite a few stations operating
under FCC Part 5 using the callsigns
WD2XSH/ followed by a number. There
are a couple of other exciting things.
There will be 3 Canadian ham stations
in the 472 to 479 kHz band (they have it -
we do not in the U.S.) Plus - on the
West Coast of the U.S. - a restored maritime
station will be reactivated and will be operating
on 500 KC.
On the 500 KC website there are links
to webpages for these WD2XSH stations. Just the
photographs alone are amazing. So
465 to 515 kHz or thereabouts.
(If you can receive down there, or course. If
you have a portable radio you should take it
outside away from noise. You'll also need
a BFO to hear the cw or digital chatter.
If I am able, I plan to use a Sony 2010
with a special receiving loop.)
Anyway, you can just use a search engine to get
to the "500 KC" website.
And don't forget Jeff White's SW station on
9395 kHz starting the same weekend.
Hope to be back soon.
Bruce
