I started to buy a radio station for $62.00 at Ebay. It was fresh out of the box and it was very easy to set up. It has an FCC ID and serial number on it and it came with the instruction manual and AC adapter. I want to get a second one for AM 1000 soon maybe this month coming up for Christmas programming. The antenna I am using is a whip antenna like around 3 to 4 feet and I want to get a taller one around 6 to 7 feet. The RF power is running at 100 mW. Right now I am trying get a ground loop isolator so right now at this time I can run the Sound Wire live audio app with a 1 second delay, but it's ok until I can get a good ground loop hum isolator. The coverage has increased from 50 feet to 150 feet and when I take my radio around I can hear it just a little outside where the cars are parked and I know that those car radios are sensitive than a portable radio so it's likely I got parked car listeners now than I have before. Now my station has grown up to a real part 15 transmitter from a 200 In One lab kit and electronic learning lab. It's such as surprise what you can find on Ebay these days. Now I have to find a less than 9 foot antenna. I also am thinking about getting a power switched surge protector so I can turn on and off the transmitter. The coverage is great no dead drop outs. I am happy with it. Will buy another soon. But, there is another thing. I need to get the right antenna that is 3 meters or 3 meter wire and I might have to order it from I AM radio soon. I wish I could get that tuner with the antenna, but that thing is very expensive. I wish there was a project out for it to build your own part 15 AM broadcast antenna tuner.
You can just use a bit of extension cable , or whatever wire you have lying about, no need to buy one from I am, also.. That transmitter has a tuner built in.. If you can get the unit outdoors, your range will increase.
