Greetings:
I have created some rudimentary radio station automation software for Linux and am currently revising it to make it more useful and more generic. This software is written in the shell scripting language, bash, and uses tools that are built into Linux or easily available.
I am curious if anyone here is interested in trying it out and perhaps making some suggestions or improvements.

For you Linux people, here's what it uses to make it work:
- bash
- cron
- wget
- xmms
- liveice (optional, for net streaming)
- icecast (optional, for net streaming)
- perl (optional, for net streaming)
Features:
- top of hour station ID - preceed startup of new program, or voice-over existing program without interruption
- top of hour time announcement
- station IDs and time announcements can be done using different voice files to create a sense of different on-air personalities at different times
- random promo/commercial
- random public service announcement/commercial
- weather from pirateweather.com
- play programs from podcast feed
- play programs from hard drive
- play programs from live MP3 net stream
- play programs on weekly schedule
- play programs on operate on day-by-day calendar (overrides weekly schedule)
I don't have a lot of time to devote to software development, but I'm willing to hear your comments and suggestions for improvements.

Scott

Hi Frank:
I've started using my new software this weekend, but I still have a few modifications I want to make to it.
Depending on how quickly you want this, I could either send you what I have now, or wait until I've added the new things that I want.
Eventually, I'll probably post all of the software and docs online and make it freely available.
Regards,
Scott

I can wait until you finish adding the features. It'll give me a chance to get a Linux machine built up.
